Created in comic books by Brian Michael Bendis and David Finch, she first appeared as a SHIELD agent in the 2005 magazine, New Avengers # 4. Maria Hill is featured in the animated series The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. She appears as a central member of SHIELD, and becomes the new director after Nick Fury’s sudden disappearance.
