Your Christmas Tree Stand should comfortably fit the diameter of the trunk. Do not reduce the diameter of the trunk. Whittling the trunk down will only dry the tree out faster. The National Christmas Tree Association recommends that a tree stand should provide 1 quart of water per inch of stem diameter. Be sure the tree stand you choose has a large water reservoir as does our Cinco Large Instant Up Christmas Tree Stand. A tree can take up a gallon of water in its first few hours in the stand. Do Not try to put too big of a tree into the Cinco Large Instant Up Christmas Tree Stand. This will cause 2 problems. 1. The tree will be unstable and will pose a risk of falling over damaging you ornaments or the tree itself. 2. The reservior is designed to hold a certain amount of water. If the trunck of the tree fills up too much of the space reserved for water you will have to refill the reservior more often and the tree will have a tendency to dry out.
