Elizabeth "Bessie" Coleman (January 26, 1892 – April 30, 1926) was a pioneer for women in the field of aviation. She was the first female pilot of African American descent and the first Native American woman to hold a pilot license during a time of both gender and racial discrimination.

It was soldiers returning from World War I with wild tales of flying exploits who first interested Coleman in aviation. Every flying school she approached refused to admit her because she was both black and a woman. (Very few American women of any race had pilot's licenses in 1918 – those who did were predominantly white and wealthy.) Because flying schools in the United States denied her entry, Coleman took it upon herself to learn French and move to France to achieve her goal. After only seven months, Coleman earned her license from France's well known Caudron Brother's School of Aviation.

Though she wanted to start a flying school for African Americans when she returned to the U.S., Coleman specialized in stunt flying and parachuting. Over the next five years she performed at countless air shows. Coleman once said, "The air is the only place free from prejudices."

Tragically, on April 30, 1926, Coleman was killed in an accident during a rehearsal for an aerial show which sent her plummeting to her death. She was only 34 years old.

Bessie Coleman broke barriers and continues to inspire. She had an unwavering sense of adventure and a determination to succeed. Quite simply, she "refused to take no for an answer."

Fun while it lasted!
Color: Black
This was purchased for my 45 pitbull mix, for context. I assumed it would be tough enough to last… well, longer than it did. Within a few minutes, she’d chewed most of the handle off. After that, it lost a lot of its appeal. When she gets bored, she goes back to it. I purchased 2 weeks ago and the tennis ball inside is now missing and shredded somewhere in my house, while maybe 1/4 of the actual ball remains. Toy - 0, small pibble (Willow) - 1

Dog entertainment
Color: Black
Pit/Heeler mix will go through this toy in a day or less lol but ours enjoys it while nit lasts. Great for tossing with the handle and the "jumbling" roll keeps him on his toes. Low cost enables replacement as needed as well as bulk buys.

Not durable, not suitable for heavy chewers
Color: Black
Our pitbull chewed the handle off this toy in less than an hour, had to take it from him and throw it away. Thought I would take the tennis ball out and he could have that to play with, but the tennis ball inside was also cheap and not durable, he managed to split the tennis ball open in 30 minutes as well.

Perfect toy for an active dog!
Color: Large size (7.9")
My dog absolutely loves this ball with handles! It’s quickly become one of his favorite toys, and he gets excited every time we bring it out to play. The vibrant colors are a huge plus—they make it super easy to spot in the grass, which saves a lot of time during outdoor play sessions. The handles are great for interactive play too, especially for tugging and tossing. I’m really impressed with how well it’s holding up. Even with constant pulling, tugging, and rough use, it’s remained durable and hasn’t shown any signs of wearing out. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase—and if my dog could write reviews, it would definitely get his paw stamp of approval! 🐾

Not for strong chewers!
Color: Large size (7.9")
I have an English Springer Spaniel who is 1.5 yrs. She had this torn apart within the first 5 minutes. This is not for strong chewers!
