Elizabeth Shaw es una joven huérfana que lleva quince años huyendo de su pasado y trabajando como institutriz de niños y jovencitas de la alta sociedad de Buenos Aires. Cuando por fin decide volver a su pequeño pueblo natal del sur de Inglaterra, un último encargo la retiene en la capital argentina: una familia a la que está fuertemente unida requiere sus servicios.

A pesar de que supone un retraso en sus planes, agradecida por la ayuda que la familia le brindó durante años, Elizabeth decide aceptar el trabajo. Sin embargo, pronto se dará cuenta de que no se trata de una tarea cualquiera. Tendrá que trabajar en la casa de Tomás Hunter, un antiguo amor con un oscuro pasado, y deberá hacerse cargo de dos niños que le cambiarán la vida para siempre. Mientras entre Tomás y Elizabeth resurge la atracción, los secretos saldrán a luz y la joven tendrá que enfrentarse a su origen y preguntarse a qué lugar pertenece realmente su corazón.

Elizabeth Shaw is a young orphan who has been fleeing her past for fifteen years and working as a governess for children and young women from the high society of Buenos Aires. When she finally decides to return to her small native town in the south of England, a last assignment keeps her in the Argentine capital: a family to which she is strongly attached requires her services.

Despite the fact that this supposes a delay in her plans, grateful for the help that the family gave her for years, Elizabeth decides to accept the job. However, she will soon realize that this is no ordinary task. She'll have to work in Tomás Hunter's house, an old love with a dark past, and she'll have to take care of two children who will change her life forever. While the attraction between Tomás and Elizabeth resurfaces, secrets will come to light and the young woman will have to face her past and wonder where her heart really belongs.
