Кожна робота для тематичного оцінювання та робота для семестрового контролю складається з 12 завдань різного виду і подана у двох варіантах.  Біля завдань указано максимально можливу кількість балів за виконання.

Для перевірки правописних навичок у зошиті передбачено місце для диктанту. Для оцінювання вміння логічно й зрозуміло викладати думки, доречно вживати слова, грамотно писати учням та ученицям пропонується написати переказ та твір.

Крім оцінювання роботи за 12-бальною шкалою, учитель / учителька може висловити загальне враження від діяльності учнів / учениць. Для цього в кінці кожної роботи запропоновано словесні характеристики, біля яких учитель / учителька за бажанням поставить одну або кілька позначок.
