Winner of the American Indian Library Association’s 2010 American Indian Youth Literature Award for Best Young Adult Book

Moana Kawelo, PhD, has a promising career as a museum curator in Los Angeles. The untimely death of her father—and the gravitational pull of Hawai‘i when she returns home for his funeral—causes Moana to question her motivations and her glamorous life in California. Between the Deep Blue Sea and Me is the story of Moana’s struggle to understand her ancestral responsibilities, mend relationships, and find her identity as a Hawaiian in today’s world.

About the Author
Lurline Wailana McGregor grew up in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, in the 1950s and 1960s in a community that reflected her own multicultural background. Her career and accomplishments have been wide ranging, including working on the staff of US Senator Dan Inouye in Washington, DC, serving on the Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs, heading up a national public broadcasting consortium for Indigenous Pacific Islanders, and producing several award-winning documentary films. Most of the trophies on her shelf, though, are for canoe paddling. Between the Deep Blue Sea and Me is her first novel.

Another Kazuo Umezz classic! Couldn't put in down. Pretty graphic body horror considering the time this manga was originally published.

Beautiful edition gives this classic the recognition it deserves
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
I am over the moon for this Manga volume. The dimensions fit perfectly in one hand. And is perfect for casual reading. There's something about it that invokes such charm. I don't know quite how to put my finger on it. I own other Reissues of classic manga such as Tezuka. And they often come a bit oversized. Which tends to increase the weight. This one, like Umezz's imaginative storytelling has a particular lightness to it that is a joy. The way the cover opens is excellent. And expect no creasing. The paper quality, of course. is second to none and Umezz's art jumps off the page. The Red color is so stylized. Vibrant and beautiful . the image of Cat-Eyed Boy on the cover has a gloss sheen to it, which makes it really stand out. Not to mention the Story! Umezz's story is truly a creative masterwork that will intrigue and charm readers. This manga volume is so well produced. It truly lives up to the title of "perfect edition". Probably the coolest book ever!
Format: Board book
This book is so cool! I found out about this company a year ago when a family friend had one of their books and my son fell in love with it. My son loves trains so this was one of his gifts this year for Christmas. It comes with the wind-up train, as well as having 4 grooved different tracks inside the book that the train can drive along. You are also able to remove the track from the book. It’s a cool toy and an easy toy to take on the go.
