Drawing inspiration from the ember-bright star that anchors Taurus, the AP Limited Editions Urushi Lacquer Art Fountain Pen - Colors of the Cosmos (Aldebaran) captures celestial warmth in a refined, writer-focused form. Its luminous orange lacquer carries quiet depth and movement, inviting the eye to linger before pen ever meets paper.

Craftsmanship & Design

This urushi-lacquered fountain pen is built around a time-intensive finishing process that develops richness through successive layers. Each coat is carefully applied, cured, and polished to reveal a glow that feels almost lit from within. The Aldebaran palette leans into the star's storied radiance, presenting a sophisticated orange tone that reads as contemporary on the desk yet timeless in the hand.

Gentle curvature and clean lines keep the focus on the lacquer's surface. Subtle variations are part of the appeal of urushi work, giving each pen a singular character. The result is an object that rewards close study as much as daily use, bridging fine art and dependable writing instrument in equal measure.

Writing Experience

A 14k gold nib provides a responsive, smooth line with the elasticity that enthusiasts appreciate in a well-tuned gold point. Offered in a comprehensive range of sizes from ultra fine through stub, it encourages a tailored fit to your writing style. The flex nib option introduces expressive line variation with controlled pressure, adding character to headings, signatures, and personal correspondence without sacrificing everyday reliability.

The cartridge-converter system offers practical versatility for travel and desk use alike. Load your preferred bottled inks with the included converter or swap cartridges when convenience is paramount. Paired with the pen's balanced feel and secure posting options you can choose to use, the Aldebaran edition is prepared for extended sessions of journaling, sketching, or note-taking.

Brand Heritage

AP Limited Editions is known for art-led writing instruments that place traditional lacquer work at the center of contemporary design. By dedicating meaningful attention to surface, color, and tactile feel, the brand cultivates pens that resonate with both collectors and daily writers. The Colors of the Cosmos theme channels the awe of the night sky into thoughtfully executed finishes that invite reflection every time the cap turns.

Tavares' beautiful craftsmanship brings Moore's poem to life
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas is a beautifully illustrated edition of the famed Clement C. Moore poem. Using the original anonymous version of the poem (later attributed to Moore), artist Matt Tavares crafts a series of elegant black and white illustrations that captures its enchantment and whimsy. Additionally, the book’s layout has a simple yet classic design with green trim and subtle pieces of shading that give it a majestic look and feel. One of the best editions of the poem ever published, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas has a bit of magic all its own.

Beautiful book
I purchased this book for my kids to read as it gets closer to Christmas. I specifically chose it because of the old world charm it has. I love the black and white sketches and the fact that the outdoor scenes of brownstones were illustrated from Boston brownstones, where we used to live. This book is just a classic and the illustrations have such depth and emotion. There is that quality and detail you can only get from black and white..and from an amazing illustrator. Lovely book. I'm very happy to own it and have it as part of our Christmas tradition..a lot more special to me than Elf on The Shelf..which was last years Christmas book purchase.

Impressive
I have not yet received my order, but just by the two illustrations that I have seen in this ad, I would like to say that - As an artist, I am VERY impressed by the pencil drawings in this book by Matt Tavares. I was looking for a SPECIAL 'Night Before Christmas' book to give to my sons so that they could continue the tradition that we had of reading the book every Christmas Eve to them. Now they will have their own book to read to their children, to continue our tradition. One that is unique and timeless.
