It is celebrated for its striking and distinctive appearance, featuring branching tentacles with clusters of rounded tips that resemble a cluster of frog eggs, giving it its common name. These tentacles can come in a variety of colors, including green, pink, purple, and brown, often with contrasting tips in hues of white or yellow.
Frogspawn coral is native to the Indo-Pacific region, where it inhabits shallow reef environments. In an aquarium, it thrives under moderate lighting and water flow conditions, preferring stable water parameters with a temperature range of 72-78°F, a pH of 8.1-8.4, and a calcium level of 400-450 ppm. Its relatively hardy nature makes it suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists.
