Black Zebrina – Glossy, Gorgeous, Striking

Alocasia Black Zebrin, which we also call Black Zebrina, dazzles with deep, almost black stems and large glossy leaves etched with bold veins. It’s an instant focal point for living rooms and studios. It brings a chic presence indoors while remaining surprisingly adaptable to indoor life.

Plant Personality & Aesthetic Appeal

Black Zebrina’s leaves are large, arrowhead to heart-shaped, with a glossy, deep-green surface and strong midribs. For this plant, the stems are the signature feature. They are nearly black with lighter zebra-style striping that reads dramatic from across a room. Texture is smooth and a little leathery with prominent veins that catch light. Use it as a low pedestal focal point, on a plant stand beside a sofa, or as a sculptural anchor near windows. The plant breathes best where its form is allowed to show. Not ideal for hanging; best in a floor pot or raised stand.

Growth Habit & Size Potential

Indoors, Alocasia Black Zebrina typically reaches 60 to 150 cm tall, depending on light and pot size, with individual leaves 20 to 50 cm long. It grows upright from a rhizome, producing new vertical shoots rather than trailing or climbing. Growth speed is moderate. Noticeable leaf production in spring and summer, slower in cooler months. Train it with a sturdy stake if stems lean; repot every 1 to 2 years into a slightly larger container to encourage new shoots. For dramatic presence, choose a 20 to 30 cm diameter pot for medium specimens. Larger specimens suit 30 to 40 cm pots.

Light & Location Needs

The Black Zebrina loves bright, indirect light with filtered sun from a window is ideal. It tolerates moderate light but will slow growth and may produce smaller leaves in low light; intense direct afternoon sun can scorch foliage. It adapts well to a covered balcony or bright indoor room but avoid prolonged direct sun. East and west windows work if the plant is set back from the pane or protected by sheers. In lower-light spots, expect reduced vigor and less dramatic stem striping.

Care Level & Maintenance Tips

Water when the top 2 to 3 cm of soil feels dry; keep the medium evenly moist but not waterlogged. Use a well-draining potting mix with peat or coco coir, perlite, and a little bark for airflow. Provide high humidity (50 to 70%) for this plant. Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength every 4 to 6 weeks during the growing season. Toxic to pets and humans if chewed (contains calcium oxalate crystals). Common mistakes: overwatering, low humidity, and placing in deep shade.

Why The Black Zebrina is Beautiful (In More Ways Than One)

Plants like Black Zebrina contribute to a calmer, more focused indoor atmosphere by adding living form, color contrast, and a sense of care to your environment. Seeing healthy foliage reduces stress and can lower perceived noise and visual clutter, helping with concentration during work or study. The plant’s large leaves increase local humidity slightly through transpiration, which can ease dry air discomfort in heated rooms. Alocasia species support wellbeing through biophilic connection: improved mood, reduced anxiety, and a daily ritual of plant care that encourages mindfulness. Place Black Zebrina near workspaces for a sculptural focus or in living areas where its presence promotes relaxation and visual balance.

If you have dogs that like to play fetch, these are a must have!
Color: Orange - Pink, Size: 2.0"(Small)-4 Pack
My pups love these sp much, they won't play with any balls other than these. Not sure if it's the small size, or the fact that they squeek, but they def were a hit.

Fun balls for a small doggie
Our little Cockapoo loves these balls. When she can’t entice us to play, she has figured out how to bounce and chase a ball by herself - very cute!

Great for my aggressive chewers
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1), Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Wears my Labs out. Fred the yellow lab chooses this pig ear over all his nyla and natural chews out of the toy box all the time. This is the 4th one in his 6 years. They have lasted long and when new are large enough I don’t have to worry about choking. As they get down in size I throw them just as a precaution. The only con I can think of is Fred loves to slam it down on the pergola floor which makes for a very loud clacky sound and it scares the $%^ out of me. He of course thinks it’s funny so he picks it up and continues to do it. As long as he and his brother Willie can chew I will always have these in their toy box.
