Victron Cyrix-Li-Charge 24/48V-230A: Intelligent Charge Relay for LiFePO4 Battery Systems

Precision Charge Control for Victron Lithium Battery Installations

The Victron Cyrix-Li-Charge 24/48V-230A is a microprocessor-controlled intelligent charge relay designed to integrate seamlessly with Victron VE.Bus BMS and LiFePO4 lithium batteries. It provides a reliable secondary layer of protection by managing the connection of high-current chargers, preventing cell overvoltage and over temperature conditions that can compromise battery lifespan and safety.

Unlike generic contactors or solenoids, the Cyrix-Li-Charge actively monitors both the BMS control signal and system voltages, ensuring chargers are only connected when safe. This reduces the risk of lithium battery damage and improves overall system reliability in 24V and 48V off-grid, marine, and automotive applications.

How the Cyrix-Li-Charge Protects Your Investment

In a Victron lithium system, the VE.Bus BMS acts as the primary safeguard. However, not all chargers can be directly controlled by the BMS. The Cyrix-Li-Charge bridges this gap by acting as a remote-controlled switch that engages or disengages the charger based on BMS commands and voltage thresholds.

  • Immediate disconnection when the BMS signals cell overvoltage or high temperature, preventing irreversible cell damage.
  • Automatic reconnection with a 3-second delay once conditions normalise, minimising downtime.
  • Voltage-sensing logic ensures the charger is only connected when it is actively producing charge voltage (27.4V or 54.8V), avoiding unnecessary cycling.
  • Built-in transient voltage suppression protects against voltage spikes during disconnection, safeguarding sensitive electronics.

Key Features and Benefits

  • High continuous current rating: 230A at 24V, 80A breaking capacity at 48V, suitable for large charger banks and inverter/chargers.
  • Low power consumption: Draws less than 4mA when open, preserving battery charge during storage.
  • IP54 protection: Resistant to dust and water splashes, ideal for engine rooms and exposed installations.
  • LED status indicator: Provides clear visual feedback on relay state (engaged, disengaged, connecting, alarm).
  • Compact and lightweight: 65 x 100 x 50mm, 0.27kg, easy to mount in tight spaces.
  • 3/8"-16 (Approx. M10) stud terminals accept heavy-duty lugs for secure, low-resistance connections.

Engineered for Demanding Environments

The Cyrix-Li-Charge is built to withstand the rigours of mobile and marine installations. Its sealed design (IP54) and robust terminals ensure reliable operation despite vibration, humidity, and temperature fluctuations. The included 1-metre control cable simplifies connection to the VE.Bus BMS, reducing installation time and potential wiring errors.

For system designers and installers, this relay eliminates the need for complex external control circuits, providing a plug-and-play solution that maintains the integrity of Victron's lithium ecosystem.

Applications

  • Marine lithium battery systems with high-output alternators or shore power chargers.
  • Off-grid solar installations using Victron inverter/chargers and MPPT controllers.
  • RV and caravan power systems requiring automated charge disconnect for lithium batteries.
  • Industrial backup power where battery safety and longevity are critical.

Take Control of Your Lithium Charging

Integrate the Victron Cyrix-Li-Charge 24/48V-230A into your energy system to ensure your lithium batteries are charged safely and efficiently. Add to your order today and build a more resilient power solution.

switched each outlet extension cord
This is a great extension cord. The plug is flat to the wall and offset so you can use 2 plugs together in one double wall outlet. The extension cord has a switch for each outlet to turn on or off each outlet. You can control all your lights and fans from one place, also has USB-C = 2each and USB-A = 2each. Cord is extra long to find a wall outlet, colored white to blend in.

Great Power Strip to save energy.
I bought this power strip for my coffee maker, frothier, and water purification system. All of these items are never in use all day long and pull electricity if remained plugged in. Which means they cost me money when not in use. This power strip makes it energy efficient to have appliances plugged in and ready to use while saving on energy costs. I used my label maker to identify which switch was which. I plugged in the appliances to the power strip and shut off all the switches. And it works great. When I want to turn on the coffee machine I flip the switch that says Coffee Machine and know that I am only turning on that one appliance not all. That is the problem with most power strips. You have a master switch that turns them all on. This power strip turns one on at a time. Or you can turn all on by flipping each switch or two on at the same time. You are in control. I liked it so much that I bought two more. One for the kitchen appliances (Foodsaver, hot water kettle, etc.) and one for the home office. Can turn on shredder, and other computer devices as I need to.

Solved Specific Need
Size: 10 Ft (Type B with Clamp), Color: White
Nice product which solved a problem of needing USB power clamped to a very thick work table. Most power strips with a clamp do not accommodate thick tables between 1.75" and 2" so I was happy to find this one. Successfully provides power to all my USB devices even a laptop (although charging is a bit slower compared to the OEM power adapter).

One minor bug
Size: 10 Ft (Type B with Clamp), Color: Black
I received this today and mounted it to the table I have next to my recliner. I plugged it into a remote control outlet so I can turn everything off at once. I used two of the AC outlets for the power recliner. I then plugged a USB powered fan into one of the USB-A ports. I plugged the power cable from a set of speakers positioned next to the headrest of the recliner into the other USB-A port. I used one of the USB C outlets to charge my tablet. When I hit the switch on the remote control to turn off power to the strip before going to bed I discovered a bug. The only way I can describe it is a cross port power bleed. After killing power to the strip my speakers were still playing, not well as they had static. I discovered by trial and error that if I unplugged my tablet the problem stopped. Apparently if you have something with a battery plugged into one of the USB ports and have something plugged into the other USB ports it pulls power from the device with the battery to try and power the other devices plugged in. Other than this one problem it seems to be just what I was looking for.
