What Is Vegan Lanolin? Mad Hippie's Vegan Lanolin is made from shea butter and olive oil unsaponifiables (a compound that is an excellent emollient and is rich in squalene and phytosterols). Both shea butter and olive oil unsaponifiables are rated low on the comedogenic scale. That said, we would not recommend this product to be used regularly on the face for anyone with extremely acne-prone skin - only as a treatment for dry patches.
