Established in 1981 by Jeffrey Grosset, the winery is renowned for producing exceptional Riesling and Cabernet blend wines that authentically reflect the region's unique terroir. They have four estate-owned, certified organic and biodynamic (ACO) vineyards and producing wines that consistently receive high praise from critics and wine enthusiasts alike.

Grosset Polish Hill Riesling is crafted from our eight-hectare, estate-owned vineyard in the Clare Valley, certified A-Grade Organic and Biodynamic (ACO). Planted by Grosset in 1996, this gently sloping site comprises silt and shallow shale over a thin layer of clay and gravel, resting on a base of ancient blue slate estimated to be around 500 million years old.

This is a true ‘hard rock’ site, where the vines must work hard to extract nutrients from the soil. As a result, yields are low, with small bunches and berries that produce intensely concentrated, long-lasting flavours. The vineyard powerfully illustrates how ancient rock formations can shape a wine’s character, Polish Hill is a particularly striking example.
