How to Install HPE 1950-24G-2SFP+-2XGT-PoE+(370W) Switch

Set up is practical and quick for most small offices. Begin by determining the switch placement—whether in a network rack or on a sturdy desk—and ensure adequate ventilation. Connect the network devices you intend to power through the 24 PoE+ ports. Use PoE devices like IP cameras, APs, or IP phones to take full advantage of the 370W budget. Then connect the two uplink ports to your core network or to the router/firewall to establish external connectivity and internet access. Finally, power on the device and proceed with configuration using the web GUI or CLI.

Configuration steps at a high level:

  • Initial access: Connect a management computer to any switch port or an out‑of‑band management interface if available. Open a browser and enter the switch’s default IP address or discover it via your DHCP server. Log in with the default credentials and change the password immediately for security.
  • Basic network setup: Assign a management IP (static or via DHCP), configure a basic hostname, and set administrative access controls. This establishes a stable management path for ongoing configuration.
  • VLAN and QoS configuration: Create VLANs to segment traffic (for example, VLANs for voice, data, and surveillance). Apply QoS policies to prioritize critical traffic, such as VoIP and storage access, ensuring consistent performance during peak usage.
  • PoE device provisioning: Enable PoE on the ports that will power cameras, phones, or APs. Verify that power budget is allocated as needed and monitor PoE status to prevent overloading the switch.
  • Link aggregation and uplinks: If your network design requires it, configure LACP (Link Aggregation) on the uplink ports to increase bandwidth to the core network or to server/storage resources.»
  • Security hardening and monitoring: Enable access controls, disable unused ports, and enable SNMP or syslog for ongoing monitoring. Save the configuration to ensure settings persist across reboots.

After configuration, test connectivity by pinging devices across VLANs, verifying that PoE devices receive power, and confirming that uplinks are operating at the expected speeds. Regularly review firmware updates from HPE to maintain security and performance, and schedule periodic backups of your switch configuration to prevent data loss during maintenance or upgrades.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: How many PoE devices can I power with the 370W budget?
A: The 370W PoE budget supports multiple PoE+ devices, but the exact number depends on the power draw of each device. High‑power devices like pan-tilt IP cameras draw more power, so calculate total load by adding each device’s power requirement to ensure you stay within the 370W limit.
  • Q: What uplink options does this model provide?
A: The switch includes 2 x SFP+ ports for fiber connections and 2 x 10GBASE-T RJ‑45 ports, offering flexible copper and fiber uplink choices to suit your network topology and future bandwidth needs.
  • Q: Is VLANs and QoS supported?
A: Yes. The switch supports VLAN segmentation and QoS to prioritize critical traffic such as voice and storage traffic, helping to maintain performance during busy periods.
  • Q: How do I manage the switch?
A: You can manage it through the web-based GUI for straightforward configuration or use the CLI for advanced control. It also supports standard management protocols for monitoring and integration with existing network management systems.
  • Q: Can I mount this switch in a rack?
A: Yes. The HPE 1950 series is designed for rack‑mount installations (1U rack height) or desk placement, depending on your space and layout requirements.

Surprising quality, great for work
Size: 34 Inch, Size: 34 Inch
I know this is advertised as a gaming monitor, but I decided to get a large, wide monitor for long work hours to replace my two 27 inch monitors. It has just enough width that you can easily split the screen and work side-by-side. It is genuinely helped my neck pain since my posture is staying straight. There is no lag in the monitor and it has a pretty good design. Nice and thin, sleek. The amount on the back of it was a little strange, but I figured it out. The only thing I don’t like about this monitor is you cannot adjust the height up and down and it does not tilt but for the price I can live with that. It does give you the option to mount on a wall, which is nice. This might be a me problem, but it didn’t want to register with my thunderbolt docking station. I ended up needing to plug it directly into the laptop, which is an ideal. Haven’t figured out if that’s the monitor operation or if I need to connect it in a different way. Overall, this is a great value for the money.

Very poor delivery and unboxing experience
Size: 34, Size: 34
2/12/26 Shipping was beyond poor. Amazon packaged this in a oversized box with no padding. Monitor box inside was damaged, but product seems ok. I was initially going to return and left a scathing feedback review for amazon delivery being beyond poor, when I requested a call there service kept hanging up on me. Shame on you Amazon, unfortunately I am removing one star for that. Now onto the real review... Monitor is sharp with no dead pixels, however the protective film is weird. So weird I thought I had received a used product, when I went to peel the film the sticker ripped and I had to carefully inspect to discover there was actually film and not someone pulling one over on amazon on a return. One star removed for that horrible film experience, it was very jarring. There is no height adjustment only tilt, which is fine nothing unexpected there. Stand is actually quality and is a Metal Injection Molding (MIM) material which is impressive for the price, not weighted plastic like some of the higher end brands. I like that there is no horrible blue light signaling the monitor is on, but that can be a turn off for some as the black levels of monitor can confuse someone into thinking it is not working. However if you are a photographer or a gamer this is a huge plus. Kudus to CRUA for doing that. I will update review upon testing to see if product needs less stars or if amazon wants to chime in on their part in this experience to add stars back. CRUA get on amazon so you can be a solid 4 stars! At this point I would recommend, but beware the film.

CRUA delivers in price and panel quality, but stumbles in build quality
If they could just solve their quality control issues then this might be one of the best monitors I have purchased for the price it is offered at. Major monitor brands should be absolutely ashamed that this comes within striking quality of monitors are 3-6x its price. My only advice to anyone else looking to buy this is to get an extended warranty for it because CRUA does have serious quality control issues and weak components. But the actual panel, colors, etc are way above the asking price. I am absolutely floored.

This monitor is spectacular for the price. I am very pleased with it.
Size: 27 Inch
It arrived in tact and has zero blemishes or dead pixels. That's saying something when you have this many pixels too. The Freesync works great, it's fairly bright and the colors are amazing. They need to be detuned quite a lot since the gamut is way higher than most content is created for. Gaming is fantastic. I do not seem to have the advertised 1080P high FPS mode though. Perhaps they crossed up some of the promotional information for a different model. Still, I am very much enjoying 160Hz at 4k. I am playing through games again just to see them so clearly, and that's going from a 2k monitor of the same size. This display is superior. I wish the power button that's modeled to look like a joystick actually was one, don't be caught off guard by that. It's just a button. I knew that when I bought it but still. Kinda... iffy to make it look like one. I mounted the monitor on an arm. It weighs very little so it was easy. I never used the included stand, but it's very sturdy and I love that is flips vertically too. The headphone jack works nicely for my powered speakers and it switches between display port and HDMI correctly. My last monitor had to be restarted each time I went back to Display Port to get audio back. This monitor at the price I paid is insanely good. I'd been waiting for years for a good 4K panel with high refresh rate at 27". By far my favorite monitor size. I have zero intention of changing or upgrading from this panel until μLED is finally available. If this panel dies, I will get another until then.

Great with one annoyance
Very nice + hi-res. Each pixel is sharp thanks, I presume, to IPS. One criticism: there's no way to tell whether it's supposed to be 'on', except by seeing a picture. Very frustrating when the graphics card and the monitor at startup both kind of go: "Are you on? No? Then I'll turn back off." for what seems like 2 seconds and you have to try to guess whether the monitor is actually on. You can look down the slots at the back for lights, but one that's easier to see would be nice. Anyway, as you'll have seen, it has a literal 15:10 aspect ratio (even better than 16:10) so this is a rare monitor that's better for documents than the 16:9 monitors that are made for movies. I think the monitor may be a little small for ~4K, but you can't complain for the price. Would buy again, but please, give it an 'on' light.
