PURPOSE: Authentic bourbon barrel heads make a great canvas for bar wall decor. It's a great way to add rustic flair to any man cave, garage, basement, tavern or pub. Better yet, everyone has a wall.  Get the person who has everything a unique piece of bar wall decor.

HISTORY: Our whiskey barrel heads come directly from Kentucky and Tennessee distilleries, so you'll likely receive one with a maker's mark. They were once used to make the best American whiskey and bourbon, so they will have a faint aroma and character to show for it.  As reclaimed pieces you'll be giving each piece of bar wall decor new life in your home bar, man cave, or kitchen.

CONSTRUCTION: Whiskey barrel heads are about 22 inches in diameter and come from reclaimed charred oak barrels. Prior to printing we secure a sturdy backer board to the bottom of the lid to make sure all the wood slats are held together as tightly as possible. Then we sand, print, and seal your bar wall decor for a lifetime of beauty.  We add a heavy-duty D-Ring to the back for instant display. Note - due to the real whiskey/bourbon aging process you'll usually see imperfections in the wood.

    Started w/ audiobook, now I'm ordering the print too

    This book is GREAT!! The integration of theory she uses to support her claims is masterful. I began listening to the audiobook, because it was cheaper & I go through a ton of counseling & psych books. I am a grad student in social work, and I'm also a therapy client trying to heal myself. I appreciate that this book targets "chronic shame" which as a central experience to a bunch of issues. The hundreds of books and articles I've researched seem like they were mostly ALL working back to this issue. In a psychology culture that is big on cognitive and chemical solutions to mental health, the relational approach that she emphasizes is critical to the healing process. I appreciate the research she uses from object relations, affect regulation, interpersonal, etc. I purchased the hard copy because 1. I can't underline/highlight an audiobook and 2. I want a copy of the references of theorists and study's that she draws from, because they are pure gold. All therapists need to understand the contents of this book! Unless you are perfectly fine offering band aid solutions. Clients and self-helpers beware. It's not triggering in terms of content, it is activating in the sense that she describes the felt experience of shame SO WELL. I could locate my own felt sense of shame which is, by default, unpleasant. Some stabilization and a decent therapeutic connection is probably necessary before cracking this book open. But that's why I love it. I needed to go deeper and get the core issues. And this book is like a map that guides you right to it.

    One of the best books on shame out there
    Format: Paperback
    As a shame researcher and educator, I often refer to DeYoung's book because it is so full of resources and relational tools for clinicians and individuals relating to the neurobiology of shame. It is a very small book with A LOT of information. Many references to the shame research and suggestions for treating shame in clinical practice from a perspective of right brain relationship dynamics. Thank you Patricia!
