After spending half a year on a coast-to-coast tour of North America with her young family in a 40-foot motorhome, Tami returned to New Zealand to record a collection of songs inspired by her pilgrimage. This lovelorn letter written on 4 wheels over blacktop became Neon Cowgirl. From the barnburner “Borrow My Boots”- a celebration of sisterhood written and performed with Ashley McBryde and Shelly Fairchild featuring guitar-prodigy Grace Bowers - to the dreamy duet of the title track featuring Neil Finn, to Tami's soaring ode to Roy Orbison "Foolish Heart" and the smoky "You're Gonna Fall" recorded with JD McPherson, Neon Cowgirl leaves no emotion unexamined, no stone unturned.

"I collected the seeds for these songs in each place along the way. When they blossomed, there were crossbreeds of Presley and Patsy, Orbison and kd lang- the blues of Memphis, the twang of Texas, the cinematic torch of Judy Garland on a Hollywood soundstage. But mostly, it became a love letter to my Neon Cowgirl. Or, more accurately, a lovelorn letter. Because she’ll just keep on breaking a foolish heart if you let her."
