how to install TYAN S5545

Before you begin, ensure you have a compatible case, power supply, memory, and a suitable CPU that fits the LGA-1151 socket and Q170 chipset design. Start by preparing your workspace and grounding yourself to avoid static discharge.

Step 1: Install the CPU into the LGA-1151 socket on the S5545. Align the notches on the CPU with the socket alignment markers and gently seat the processor. Secure the socket latch or lever as required by the motherboard design.

Step 2: Apply a small, even amount of thermal paste if your CPU cooler requires it, then attach the CPU cooler to the CPU mounting area. Connect the cooler’s power cable to the appropriate header on the motherboard as indicated in the manual.

Step 3: Install memory modules (DDR4) into the appropriate DIMM slots. Ensure they are fully seated and that the latches click into place. If the board supports dual-channel operation, install memory in matched pairs to maximize performance.

Step 4: Mount the TYAN S5545 motherboard into your chassis using the case standoffs. Align the I/O shield with the back of the case and secure the motherboard with screws. Double-check that the board is flat and properly seated on the standoffs.

Step 5: Connect power and data cables. Attach the 24-pin ATX power connector and the 8-pin (or 4+4) CPU power connector to the motherboard. Connect storage devices via SATA cables to the SATA ports, and route power and data cables neatly to promote airflow and easy maintenance.

Step 6: Install discrete graphics cards or expansion cards into the PCIe slots if needed. Secure the cards with screws and connect any required power connectors from the power supply. If you’re using onboard video, you can skip certain GPU steps, but remember to configure the BIOS/UEFI to select the desired primary display.

Step 7: Connect peripheral cables, including USB devices, network (Ethernet) cables, and any front-panel audio or USB headers as outlined in the motherboard manual. Make sure all connectors are firmly seated and routed for unobstructed airflow.

Step 8: Power on the system and enter BIOS/UEFI. Set boot order, enable any virtualization features if required, and configure memory timings if you’re optimizing for a specific workload. Save settings and exit. Install the operating system and drivers, beginning with chipset, storage, and graphics drivers to ensure optimal performance and stability.

Step 9: Run a basic stability test and monitor temperatures to verify cooling effectiveness. Make any necessary adjustments to fan curves or cooling solutions to maintain safe operating temperatures during peak workloads. Regular firmware and driver updates help sustain compatibility and security over time.

Step 10: Finalize your workstation setup. Create restore points, backup plans, and documentation for the build to streamline future maintenance, component upgrades, or troubleshooting. The TYAN S5545 is designed to be a durable workstation motherboard, so you can focus on your projects with confidence.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What CPUs are compatible with the TYAN S5545?
A: The TYAN S5545 is built around the Intel Q170 chipset and LGA-1151 socket, so it supports compatible 6th- and 7th-generation Intel Core processors and other processors designed for LGA-1151. BIOS compatibility may vary by motherboard revision, so consult the latest TYAN documentation or your vendor for supported CPU lists.

Q: How many displays can I drive with the S5545?
A: The board provides onboard video outputs, including DisplayPort and DVI connectors, enabling multi-display configurations. I just got it changed about 30 min ago and the engine sounds like a little cat
Size: 5 L
My Audi factory setting says I should use VW 508.00. Somewhere online it says 5w-40. It's 82000 miles and I decided to give it a shot to go 0W-20 which is what VW508.00 is. I just got it changed about 30 min ago and the engine sounds like a little cat. The gas pedal feel is very smooth, there's definitely less resistance when pushing forward. In Sports mode driving, the engine is not as loud and the lag or drag is noticeably less. And when it hits 100k, I will do a engine flush to see if I can get further improvements. So far, I really love Liqui Moly. I used to use it on my S500 and it was very smooth. A little more money goes a long way! Don't settle for less for your German cars. Update: I just did another 1000 miles in a week to Vegas and back. The fuel economy improved about 20%. The power increase is amazing. I could notice when I am going fast, the sustained speed at high speed is easy and continuous, It doesn't just hit a snag when your foot is off the pedal. And the engine is definitely a lot quieter and smoother. I am amazed at the overall improvement after using this oil. No other oil will do from now on.

Do it!
Size: 5 L
Use it in a 14 Sierra. Get about 7500 miles an oil change going off the oil life monitor but I drive rough and the trucks modded. Pricier than others, but I feel it’s worth it. Truck runs smoother than what was in it.
