Written and recorded in East London during the spring of 2025, the album was developed in a live work studio environment over an eight week period. Dean worked closely with a small group of collaborators, including Julian Bunetta, Matt Hales, Leon Michels, and John Ryan. The record sits primarily within pop and R and B, incorporating elements of neo soul, jazz pop, bossa nova, and classic Motown influenced arrangements.
The album was preceded by the singles “Nice to Each Other”, “Lady Lady”, and “Man I Need”, with “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” released alongside the full record. Upon release, The Art of Loving debuted at number one in the United Kingdom and several other territories, and charted within the top ten in North America.
