Seamlessly blending funk-infused rhythms with jazz piano and satirical social commentary, the album crafts a unique concept, propelled by the infectious "Humpty Dance" and the charismatic persona of Humpty Hump.

Heavily influenced by P-Funk, the album showcases innovative production by Shock G and addresses themes of sexuality and culture with a playful yet insightful approach. "Sex Packets" includes the singles "Doowutchyalike" (which peaked at #19 on the Hot Rap Singles, #20 on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles chart and #29 on the Hot R&B Singles chart) and "The Humpty Dance" (which reached #11 on the pop charts, #7 on the R&B charts, and #1 on the Billboard Rap Singles chart).

In celebration of the 35th anniversary of this landmark album, the double vinyl is pressed on 180 gram light blue and black on clear splatter coloured vinyl, with printed inner sleeves with a photo booklet and also features a gatefold cover that opens to reveal a three-dimensional pop-up of a recording studio.
