Blood Dynasty marks the twelfth studio album from Swedish melodic death metal stalwarts Arch Enemy, officially released on March 28, 2025. The record introduces guitarist Joey Concepcion to the lineup, following Jeff Loomis's departure in 2023. Loomis, however, makes a postscript appearance on the bonus tracks “Break the Spell” and “Moths.”
The album’s striking cover art was once again helmed by Alex Reisfar, who previously collaborated with the band on Will to Power (2017) and Deceivers (2022), continuing a visual thread that complements Arch Enemy’s evolving sonic narrative.
Founding guitarist Michael Amott framed Blood Dynasty as a bold progression for the band. “This new album pushes the boundaries of what we’ve done before — it’s everything you’ve come to expect from this band, and then some,” he stated in the album’s announcement. “We can’t wait for you to hear it and feel the energy we’ve poured into every track. Welcome to the Blood Dynasty.”
One of the album’s most notable moments comes with track nine: a cover of “Vivre Libre” by French heavy metal outfit Blaspheme. It marks the first time Arch Enemy have included a cover on the standard edition of a studio album. To balance this shift, two of the bonus tracks—“Break the Spell” and “Moths”—are original compositions, offering longtime fans a broader glimpse into the band’s current creative direction.
