The original Lil’ Native® was created to provide the same proven functionality and reliability as our iconic Native model in an ultra-compact package with a legally friendly 2.42-inch blade. Continuing that evolution, Spyderco is proud to offer the Lil’ Native Lightweight. This remarkable folding knife takes the Lil’ Native Back Lock platform and lightens it by 40 percent with fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle scales. The injection-molded scales add the enhanced grip security of a Bi-Directional Texture™ pattern and are home to a reversible deep-pocket wire clip that provides discreet left or right-side tip-up carry. The business end of the knife is a full-flat-ground CTS® BD1N stainless steel blade with a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole™ for easy one-handed opening with either hand. This ultra-lightweight cutting tool is available with a tumbled blade finish and brightly finished hardware or in an all-black configuration featuring a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) blade coating and matching black-coated lock bar, clip, and hardware. Both finish options also offer a choice of either a PlainEdge™ or fully serrated SpyderEdge™ blade.

Notes

We were surprised to see that this new 2025 edition of the lil native differentiates itself from the rest of the entire native family with a thinner blade stock which should yield some performance benefits and make it a bit easier to sharpen while also further lightening this small yet mighty folder. For only being 1.6 oz, it feels impressively solid and has a solid lockup. Like many of the resized variants of Spydercos, the Lil' Native also retains the same core ergonomic profile as the regular sized Native and long Native Chief so it carries and handles in a very familiar way.

A definite must read especially if you have difficult family relationships. My childhood was very unhappy and confusing as I had a mother who is a borderline. My father, who seemed to be the anchor of reason in our family, recently passed causing some very difficult and seemingly unreasonable discussions. My mother was all over the place emotionally, causing me as an adult many sleepless nights from her verbal vomits. This book really gave me renewed courage and strength to find and hold my ground and feel right about setting boundaries for myself. As a survivor of a borderline, it is very difficult to have good healthy relationships with your own children because even years after you’ve left home and have your own family, those words “I hate you, I wish you’d never been born” can still come to haunt you and cause you to doubt yourself. I gave a copy of this book to my sisters. One read it, and both she and her husband devoured it. It really has helped us to separate ourselves from some of the family crazy, and be more Christ centered and ministry focused. Our mother was quite good at throwing “bible” at us and using it rather inappropriately to fit her agendas, always causing us to doubt our effectiveness in ministering your other individuals.
