Riptide Fortrex 80 Saltwater Bow-Mount Trolling Motor - 24v-80lb.-52"
Saltwater Bow Mount

Arm yourself with the ultimate weapon against saltwater. The all-new Riptide SF features fewer moving parts, tighter tolerances, advanced corrosion protection and our revolutionary new Mono-Arm. You get no-nonsense power, stealth operation and rugged, reliable performance - everything you need to put saltwater in its place.

Mono-Arm Design
Sometimes, the simplest solution is best. In this case, it's a revolution. Riptide SF's innovative Mono-Arm Design features an extruded, anodized aluminum, structural beam that operates with no metal-to-metal contact and 75% less torsion. A single hinge point and rear pivot bearing with 20% more surface area deliver less wear, longer life, and quieter operation than traditional motor mounts.

Counter-Tension Stabilizer (CTS)
CTS uses an integrated spring that applies force whether the motor's stowed or deployed. On the water, that translates to a motor with no play, no give, reduced steering torque and silent operation.

Lift-Assist
Riptide SF's Lift-Assist design cuts the weight of stow and deploy in half, making it as easy as lifting your SUV tailgate. It features a stainless steel, nitrogen-charged gas spring to get you in and out of the water with ease.

Removable Bowguard 360°
Lifting the motor and bowguard off of the mount is now even easier on Riptide SF - just remove a single cap screw. The Bowguard 360'™ also features a dual bearing system that eliminates noise and allows for improved breakaways from any angle.

Quick-Lock Cam Depth Adjuster
Change depths simply and securely with the Quick-Lock cam adjuster. It makes depth adjustment simple and locks in tight to keep your motor right where you want it.

Tilt/Extend Tiller
Get the best of both worlds on your hand control motor with the new Tilt/Extend Tiller. It can both tilt (up to 45°) and extend (6") to fit the way you fish.

Push-to-Test Battery Gauge - Riptide SF
Get an instant "state of charge" with this easy-to-read gauge.

Digital Maximizer
Digital Maximizer™ controls and optimizes power to extend battery life and reduce damaging heat. You'll stay on the water up to five times longer on a single charge.

Weedless Wedge 2 Prop
Push weeds away and take on the thick stuff without battery-draining chopping and hacking. Weedless Wedge™ 2 features swept-back, flared blades for unrelenting, reliable prop performance.

Advanced Corrosion Protection
Riptide motors are impervious to saltwater's corrosive effects, thanks to premium-grade marine alloys and aluminum upper arms. Metals undergo a rigid multi-step cleaning process before being anodized or coated with a special zinc dichromate armor plating. All components are then finished with a durable 5-mil TGIC polyester, powder coat paint. When it's all done, you're left with unequaled corrosion protection.

Full Encapsulated Electronics
Marine-grade urethane fully encapsulates Riptide control boards to protect the electronic circuitry. Also, all electrical connections are sealed with liquid-tight heat shrink tubing to form an impregnable barrier against saltwater

Sacrificial Anode
Galvanic corrosion occurs when two dissimilar metals come into electrical contact through saltwater. Riptide fights back with a sacrificial zinc anode, a composite shaft and properly balanced materials that are close in electrical potential. The result is a motor that's completely protected from saltwater's destructive forces.

Two-Year Warranty
This motor is backed up with Minn Kota's two-year warranty

An epic adventure, page after page!
Format: Paperback
Many women dream of making this hike (I once did) but few lace up their boots and get on the trail. And even a tiny fraction of those who DO realize their goal, could capture the experience like Joan Griffin. I read several chapters a night and always looked forward to getting back on the trail with her from my rocking chair. The grandeur of the sights, the wonder of seeing the world well above 8,000 feet ~ for 27 days ~ reads like a personal diary. Every perspective, high and low, is captured: the practical issues of carrying on even with a twisted ankle on Day 1, then blisters, surviving sudden weather changes, confronting inner doubts, securing essential food and water, and losing the camera enrich the book in an authentic style. In between all this, the reader remembers that it all took place with 40 pound backpacks on their backs! It's a magical but real-life journey with the inevitable personality differences of the Three Women, as well as their uniquely personal reasons to hike. As the brave heroes arrive to the finish line, one is aware of the power of grace that accompanied them all along. Yes, this experience changed the hikers but it also changes the reader. Being aware of those who live curiously and courageously provides a kind of encouragement for us to do the same, even after age 50.

Inspirational Read
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Griffin, J. M. (2023). Force of nature: Three women tackle the John Muir Trail. Black Rose Writing. Joan Griffin loves exploring and lives in the Northern California foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Five legs, 27 days, 195.9 miles, this is a memoir of three 50+ women hiking the John Muir Trail located in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Each day receives its own chapter providing a vivid description of the trail, challenges, and beauty. Walking created an "unpredictable reality," that was "bigger in every conceivable way than [her] imagination could have conjured." As you read through the story, you are transported to the trail, so vivid her recollections and descriptions of their experiences. She wore a necklace with the words strength, courage, and spirit; a mantra that served her well along the journey. Griffin found: "I found my very soul had acclimated to the natural world, and I was completely in tune with the Earth and the sky and the water surrounding me." Such an inspiring memoir! This would be a good read for 50+ women who need a good dose of inspiration, those who like travel memoirs, and those interested in long-haul walking.

A great tale of women trekking together
Format: Kindle
This is well -written, enjoyable to read, and like the three women on the trail as a reader you don't want it to end as they near the end of the JMT. Filled with beautiful descriptions of scenery, humorous retelling of some difficult days, and interesting encounters with other people. Even for the non-hiker this book is a fun read.
