This intricate wall piece is made from recycled oil drums in Croix des Bouquets, Haiti. This design features an elephant and calf with three dimensional ears. Handcrafted and signed by Cajuste Winston with a 24 inch diameter and a natural patina with high gloss finish. Suitable for indoor or outdoor hanging.

Meet the Artisans

When you visit Croix des Bouquets, the area of town known for Haitian metal art in the capital of Port-Au-Prince, you are met with a cacophony of tink, tink, tink as ball peen hammers strike sheets of steel. The sheets are cut from steel drums colored by oil and other liquids the drums at one time held. The process of turning sheets of metal into beautiful wall art is all done by hand, from cutting holes that become edges of trees and leaves, to accenting each lizard with a texture of scales, to painting or lacquering the final design. The artists are proud of their work, signing the pieces on the back side, leaving a raised, reversed signature on the front.

First I honestly only wanted the steering wheel cover but couldn't find it for sale that way. It comes in sealed bag. The pieces are flat and bunched when taken out. I had a dog brush that I use to keep my fluffy slippers from getting matted and used it to fluff the pieces out. yes they shedded while brushing but not too much. The texture of the smaller two pieces were soft the steering wheel was soft also but had some spots that felt slightly rough. The piece for the brake slid on easily. The piece for the gear shift fit but was pressing against the gear shift button on the left side which kept my car from cutting off so I had to "modify" the piece. Steering wheel piece does still shed slightly but not enough to bother me. Over all happy with purchase yellow was vibrant and stands out. Would recommend.

Recap... After a few months... The wheel is still Flufftabulous... There's a lot of lint accumulation on the dash and areas around the wheel but nothing like the shedding of my previous wheel. If this one ever wears completely out which i doubt... I'd definitely re-order. It arrived the next day as promised. Vacuum sealed packaging so I opened it and brushed them out. There was minimal shedding while brushing. I was relieved since this is my 2nd fuzzy wheel ... the first was more of a shag carpet type of fur which was fluffy and fabulous but left tons of lint and dust bunnies. After 2 days there's been minimal to no shedding. It was easy to put on my standard sized steering wheel and fits snug and secure NO SLIPPING! I only gave it 4 starts because the gear shift cover could be fluffier. We'll see how it all holds up in GA heat. I'm happy with it so far, if anything changes .. I'll be back. I almost forgot... I included a pic to show the view of my dashboard isn't compromised at the position I have my s.w. in which is the highest level. If you like your wheel down in your lap, your dash won't be visible. Hope this helps... Enjoy Flufftabulous Wheel!
