My drawing wishes to re-energize the Democratic Party by depicting it uniting with the voices of the people. I recreated the symbolic Democratic donkey into a cross-breed magical tiger donkey, inspired by one of my favorite 80's songs "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor, and my current interest in Korean scroll paintings of tigers. The TigerDonkey's yell, combined with the voices of the people, create a storm of change to stop the elephant approaching around the corner of the cup. The symbolic Republican elephant shows signs of stress and disorder. It has been blindfolded and is weighed down with loads of wealth by the wide-eyed robot riding atop. The blindfolded Elephant is at the command of the machine and in constant search of more money.

The life of an artist is a political statement. It’s about a vision and idealism. It’s a statement about mass production, value, and quality. It’s about lifestyle and choice. What you surround yourself with is a statement. My choice to make a simple faceted form is an attempt to reinterpret an old idea in a new and exciting way. As our country moves into the future, it will be paramount for those in positions of power to think about how they can reinterpret ideas of the past/present, and break new ground rooted in equality and social/political change.
