The Black Box IP Server Access Module - Serial, CATx is a compact, high-reliability solution designed to simplify remote server management and power control in data centers, server rooms, and distributed IT environments. By placing the server or serial target up to 32 feet away from the switch, this module delivers direct, dependable access to console ports, serial interfaces, and management workflows without forcing physical proximity. It is engineered for continuous operation, with a dedicated keep alive feature that preserves power to the module even if the switch experiences a power outage. This capability translates into faster recovery, streamlined remote diagnostics, and minimized downtime for critical infrastructure. The device’s flash-upgradable firmware ensures you can stay current with evolving remote management protocols, security practices, and feature enhancements. With CATx connectivity, it accommodates flexible installation environments, helping you optimize cable routing, noise immunity, and infrastructure density while preserving robust serial communication.

  • Extended RS232 / Serial reach up to 32 feet (9.8 meters) from the switch, enabling centralized access to console and management ports across large racks or distributed server rooms. This distance capability supports consistent signal integrity for serial commands, status polling, and diagnostic sequences without relocating servers or management gear. It is ideal for data centers with tight rack spacing, multi-area deployments, or environments where direct line-of-sight to the server is impractical.
  • Keep Alive power ensures the module remains powered even when the network switch loses power. This dependable feature guarantees that remote access, diagnostics, reboot sequences, and configuration changes remain possible during power outages or maintenance windows, reducing outage duration and speeding up recovery times. It also provides a stable management path for automated scripts and monitoring software that rely on continuous console access.

How to Install Black Box IP Server Access Module

Installing the Black Box IP Server Access Module - Serial, CATx is designed to be straightforward, delivering rapid integration with existing network and server management workflows. Start by planning the placement: locate the module close enough to the switch to minimize signal loss on the CATx link, while ensuring the target serial devices remain accessible. Because the module extends serial reach to 32 feet, you can position it in an optimal central point within the rack or data center cabinet to simplify cabling and reduce interference.

  • Step 1: Power down the equipment as required and mount the module in a suitable rack or enclosure near your switch. Ensure adequate clearance for air flow and cable management, and verify that the mounting method does not obstruct any vent or access panels.
  • Step 2: Connect the CATx cable between the switch and the IP Server Access Module. Use a shielded CATx cable where EMI or cable length concerns exist, and follow your data center’s cabling standards for labeling and routing. Confirm the cable is fully seated at both ends to prevent intermittent connectivity.
  • Step 3: Attach the RS232 serial devices or servers to the module’s serial port(s) as required. Use the appropriate DB9 or other connector type and ensure baud rates, parity, and flow control settings align with your existing device configurations. This step establishes the direct path for remote console access, server control, or power control commands.
  • Step 4: Apply power and verify the keep alive function. If your environment includes redundant power or uninterruptible power supplies, ensure the keep alive path remains continuous during switch outages. After powering up, check for link status indicators and confirm that remote access endpoints are reachable from your management station or DCIM tool.
  • Step 5: Update firmware if needed. Access the device’s management interface to perform a flash upgrade, following the manufacturer’s guidance for safe update procedures. After the upgrade, re-test all serial paths and power-control commands to confirm proper operation and to verify that the new firmware is correctly installed.

Love the storage and pull-out
Color: Dark Grey, Size: 7 Seat, Color: Dark Grey, Size: 7 Seat
The size is great and fits nicely in the corner without feeling too bulky, but still has plenty of seating. The dark grey color looks clean in person and matches my space really well — not too light, not too dark. The pull-out part is honestly one of my favorite features. It slides out pretty smoothly and turns into a big lounging area or bed. I’ve already used it to relax and watch TV and it’s really comfortable. The storage compartment is also bigger than I expected — I can fit blankets and a few extra things in there easily, which helps keep everything more organized. Comfort-wise, I’d say it’s medium-firm. Not super soft like a cloud couch, but still comfortable enough for everyday use. The cushions seem to hold their shape pretty well so far. Assembly took a bit of time and it’s easier with two people, but overall it wasn’t too complicated. Once it’s set up, it feels pretty sturdy. If I had to nitpick, the cushions do shift a little after sitting for a while, so you may need to adjust them occasionally. But for the price, I think that’s pretty normal.

very nice for the money
Color: Dark Grey, Size: 5 Seat, Color: Dark Grey, Size: 5 Seat
Very comfy. The color is perfect. The back pillows do shift when leaning against them but a throw pillow or two helps comfort. The material is soft. And it was fairly easy to assemble with 2 people.

Epic. Works great.
Color: Black
Works great every day. Super powerful and smooth compared to my old battery powered one. The shaft is much thicker and is more securely positioned so I can't imagine it becoming tweaked off balance like my old one. And it comes with an extra mixer attachment! I imagine I've put that away for a long time, but we'll see. Easy to turn on and off with one hand, but I can imagine it being less easy than a simple push button for someone with decreased thumb dexterity or mobility. I do wish the lowest speed was slightly lower, but it hasn't caused any splashing or other detriment. The speed adjustment is very smooth and power is abundant. Love the stand, Usb c charge port is solid, battery life is excellent.

You want this one, for power and quality and saving on AA battery costs
Color: Black
Yes. You want this one, for power and quality and saving on AA battery costs — buy it now. Don’t waste any more time comparing products. After hours, days, weeks, of researching and comparing, I ordered this one. I do not regret it. It is powerful. It was less than $25 when I bought it. It has a USB charger port and it feels solid in your hand. It has a turn-knob at the top to control the variable speed immersion blender aka milk frother aka wand frother. Charge battery fully for 2hrs before first use and then you’re all set. It works very well. It functioned as expected and then even better. Yes. It exceeded expectations. I hope it lasts a long time. It feels like it is very well made and high quality. Classiest and best wand frother I have ever owned. And I’ve owned over 3-4 in the past 10yrs. I got this one at $25 instead of the highest-rated one for $9.99 because those require AA batteries and this frother however is USB-C rechargeable! So in 1-2 years it will have paid for itself in battery costs alone. But there’s no price I can put on how enjoyable it is to use this super powerful, super smooth, high quality, wand frother.

Quality Design
Color: Gray
Excellent frother/mixer Pros: - Quality feels premium. - Plenty of power to mix even with a drink packed with ice and peanut butter. Basically a mini handheld mixer. - Ease of use is great. I appreciated that this had a longer brother so I can mix drinks in taller cups. Also the grip is fantastic and it is easy very easy to change the speed with just one hand so you can hold the drink with the other. Longevity - So far it's been holding up and hasn't needed a battery replacement. Cons: None so far.
