Designed for ultra-dense fiber deployments, the Black Box MTP OM3 Fiber Optic LGX Cassette delivers a clean, scalable breakout solution that consolidates 24 LC connections from a single MTP/MPO interface. Built for data centers and enterprise networks, this LGX cassette uses OM3 multimode fiber optimized for 850/1310 nm, enabling high-speed transmission with low insertion loss. With Type A pinning offering reliable channel mapping and orientation options (key up/key down or opposed), it's engineered to simplify cable management while preserving signal integrity across dense blade servers, patch panels, and switches. Whether you're expanding a storage network, upgrading to 40/100G connectivity, or refreshing aging infrastructure, this cassette aligns with standard LGX trays and delivers consistent, repeatable performance you can trust. The compact, black housing minimizes footprint while maximizing scalability, making it a practical choice for modern data centers seeking high-density fiber solutions without compromising reliability or ease of installation.

  • High-density MTP to 24x LC breakout: A single MTP 24-fiber input is converted into 24 LC channels, enabling compact patching within LGX trays and consolidating cabling in crowded data-center racks.
  • OM3 multimode fiber for fast data transmission: Optimized for 850/1310 nm, this cassette supports today’s 10G, 40G, and 100G networks with consistent performance and low signal loss across channels.
  • Type A pinning with flexible orientation: Keying options include up/down or opposed orientation, providing versatile integration with existing fiber routes and simplifying channel mapping in complex deployments.
  • Low insertion loss for reliable performance: MTP insertion loss up to 0.75 dB (max.) at 850/1310 nm and LC insertion loss up to 0.3 dB (max.) at 850/1310 nm ensure strong signal integrity across all 24 channels.
  • Durable LGX cassette for standard patching: Black, rugged housing designed to fit common LGX trunk trays and patch panels, delivering dependable performance in blade servers, switches, and dense patching environments.

How to install Black Box MTP OM3 Fiber Optic LGX Cassette

  • Prepare the installation space: Ensure your LGX patch panel or rack tray is clean, compatible, and has available slots for a cassette of this size. Verify that the MTP trunk cable and LC breakout cords are clean and ready for use.
  • Inspect connectors and cleanliness: Before mating, inspect the MTP/MPO and LC connectors for dust or debris. Use a clean, lint-free cloth or connector cleaning solution to remove any contaminants that could affect insertion loss.
  • Align orientation and pinning: Determine the desired orientation (key up/key down or opposed) to match your network design. Align the cassette so that the MTP end and LC breakout ports line up with the corresponding cables and ports in your patch panel.
  • Insert into the LGX tray: Gently slide the cassette into the LGX slot until it seats securely. Ensure that the unit is fully engaged and latched, with no gaps that could cause misalignment or movement during operation.
  • Connect the MTP trunk: Attach the incoming MTP 24-fiber trunk cable to the MTP input port on the cassette. Take care to avoid excessive bending radii and follow manufacturer recommendations for bend radius to preserve signal integrity.
  • Attach LC breakout cables: Connect each LC breakout cable to the corresponding LC ports on the cassette, following the channel mapping you designed. Use uniform labeling to simplify future maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Route and secure cables: Route all fibers neatly, using cable ties or management accessories to prevent strain. Maintain minimum bend radii and avoid overlapping cables to minimize crosstalk and ensure airflow in the rack.
  • Test the installation: Use an optical power meter or appropriate OTDR to verify insertion loss per channel and overall continuity. Confirm that all 24 LC channels are operational and within the specified loss thresholds (MTP ≤ 0.75 dB; LC ≤ 0.3 dB).
  • Document channel mapping: Record the exact mapping between MTP channels and LC ports for future reference. Update network diagrams and asset inventories to reflect the new configuration.

Our German Sheppard loves these
Size: Medium
These cost a bit more than tennis balls, but they are so much nicer and longer lasting. For starters, they stay cleaner than tennis balls because they’re smooth rubber. Dirt won’t build up on them and if anything does stick, like grass or soil, it falls off once the dog slobber dries. They’re also thick, so they don’t fall apart or blow out like a normal tennis ball does in our dog’s jaws after 30 seconds. Our GS chomps on these like crazy and the only damage they’ve suffered is a crack that developed from the edge of the hole, but the crack is growing very slowly and none of these balls have totally failed yet. The balls do whistle when thrown ant high speed and that may help a dog track and locate it, but I’m not sure. Our neighbors hear the whistling too so it’s far from silent. Lastly the orange ball is easy to locate out in our yard, but the dark blue practically disappears.

Great for smaller dogs
Size: Small
These two balls are perfect for the smaller mouthed dog that loves to play fetch. These balls are not only super durable (lots of teeth biting), but float in the baby pool we use for our miniature dachshunds. The value here is much better than you’d find anywhere else. The noise, if bitten hard enough, was “low” at best. Easy to spot/find if overthrown. Will definitely buy again once these are in bad repair; so far, so good-love these for my fur babies!

My dogs favorite balls
Size: Medium
These are great for my dog who always has to have a ball in her mouth. Not too hard so I don't have to worry about her teeth. They last for ever. They do lose their shape a little over time (like I said, she always has a ball in her mouth) they become a little oval in shape. They still bounce, she still chases it and she still chews on it so I don't think she notices or cares. I've gotten her a bag full of these over time and I have only seen one that she chewed a chunk out.

My Dachshunds Love These
Size: Small
These balls are durable, flexible material, highly chewable without being easily destroyed. I stuff them with Milkbone Maro Snacks, which are just the right size to twist into the holes in the ball. My dogs literally get an hour+ chewing and chasing entertainment from these. They chew them, they sometimes 'pop' out of their mouths, go rolling across the floor, dogs chasing them. This satisfies their urge to hunt prey. Dachshunds can easily tear this kind of stuff-it-toy apart. These have lasted for a long time without tearing or shredding. I would NOT recommend them for a dog much larger than a tweenie weenie. They're a bit on the small side and might be swallowed by a larger dog. It would be cool it they also came in a larger size (and probably ball wall thickness also) for the bigger dogs to enjoy. These stuff-it chew balls are better than the kong balls my dogs had before these. Highly recommend them.

My puppy’s favorite fetch toy!
Size: Small
Update Aug 27, 2024: After 10 months, these are still his favorite ball. He’s obsessed with fetching and plays with them all day. They do bounce really high. Unfortunately, the small size aren’t available for sale anywhere anymore. I tried the medium size, and he has a bit of trouble hanging on to them, but he manages. Weirdly, he prefers the orange one, but he also plays with the blue one. My 7 month old Shih Tzu puppy loves to fetch, and these are his new favorites. They’re small enough to fit in his mouth, and they are made of hard plastic, so he’s able to hold on to them. They have a lot of bounce, and this adds to the fun for him. I highly recommend them.
