Present professional-quality images in vibrant widescreen with the Sony VPL-SW235 LCD Projector. Built for classrooms, corporate training rooms, and mixed-use spaces, this compact short-throw projector delivers a bright, clear picture even in well-lit environments. Its 16:10 native aspect ratio is designed for modern presentations, spreadsheets, and multimedia content, providing less letterboxing and a more natural viewing experience. With a focus on low total cost of ownership (TCO), the VPL-SW235 combines dependable brightness, space-saving design, and straightforward setup that suits busy environments—whether you’re equipping a lecture hall, a conference room, or a home theater setup. This projector is engineered to maintain consistent color and sharp detail across a variety of sources, from laptops to document cameras, while keeping maintenance simple and affordable over time. If you need a versatile, high-clarity projection solution that fits smaller rooms without compromising on image quality, the VPL-SW235 is a compelling option that blends performance with practicality. The result is a dependable display solution that helps you communicate ideas clearly, engage audiences, and adapt to different teaching or meeting scenarios.

  • Powerful 3000-lumen brightness ensures sharp, readable images even in rooms with ambient light. Images stay crisp with vivid colors, making text, graphs, and video content easy to follow from the back of the room. This brightness level supports comfortable viewing in classrooms, training rooms, and on smaller to mid-sized screens, so your content remains impactful regardless of the lighting conditions. The VPL-SW235 maintains clarity in daylit spaces and during presentations where environmental light is variable, helping you deliver your message with confidence.
  • Short-throw projection for space-saving setups lets you place the projector close to the screen, producing large images from a compact footprint. This minimizes shadows cast by presenters and reduces clutter between speaker and audience. Ideal for small classrooms, compact meeting rooms, and multi-use spaces, the short-throw design provides flexible placement options without sacrificing image size or quality. You gain more wall space for content and easier placement in rooms with limited depth, while still achieving a wide diagonal image that commands attention.
  • Widescreen 16:10 native aspect ratio delivers content in its natural format, reducing black bars for modern presentations, spreadsheets, and multimedia. With a 16:10 native layout, you’ll experience more usable screen real estate for side-by-side comparisons and data-rich slides. The result is a more immersive viewing experience that aligns with contemporary video and document formats, ensuring your audience receives information in a clear, expansive format without unnecessary letterboxing.
  • Low total cost of ownership and reliable performance come from a design focused on longevity and efficiency. The VPL-SW235 is built for enduring use in high-traffic environments, with energy-saving features and a compact maintenance profile that reduces downtime and replacement costs. The projector’s efficient operation helps keep energy bills down while preserving brightness quality over time, and its robust core components are designed for frequent setup and teardown in classrooms and conference rooms.
  • Versatile connectivity and user-friendly maintenance support seamless integration with laptops, document cameras, media players, and other devices. HDMI and analog inputs enable quick source switching, while easy-access panels and straightforward menu controls simplify configuration and routine maintenance. This means less downtime during important presentations, faster setup for instructors and presenters, and a smoother overall experience in multi-use environments.

How to install Sony VPL-SW235 LCD Projector - 16:10

Installing the VPL-SW235 for optimal image quality and dependable performance starts with planning the placement and mounting. The following steps offer a practical, user-friendly path to a clean, professional setup that minimizes shadows, aligns with the screen, and preserves space in the room.

  • Plan the installation location. Choose a secure mounting site that aligns with your screen’s center and allows for the shortest practical throw distance. Consider ceiling mounting to keep cables organized and to maximize floor space for audience seating and movement.
  • Install a compatible ceiling mount and ensure proper ventilation. Use hardware rated for the projector’s weight and secure the mount with safety cables or straps as appropriate for your venue. Allow adequate clearance for air flow around the unit to prevent overheating during extended use.
  • Connect video sources. Use HDMI for the best picture quality with modern laptops, media players, and document cameras. If you’re working with older equipment, VGA or composite inputs provide reliable alternatives. Verify source settings to match the projector’s native resolution and aspect ratio for the clearest image.
  • Power up and perform basic alignment. Power on the projector, focus the image, adjust zoom, and fine-tune keystone correction to ensure a perfectly square image on screen. If available, use lens shift or center alignment features to position the image precisely without distorting geometry.
  • Calibrate and save presets. Adjust color temperature, brightness, and contrast to suit the room’s lighting and screen material. Save a preferred preset for quick setup in future presentations or classroom sessions, and document connection details for easy maintenance checks.

Entertaining, educational and provoking
Format: Hardcover
I really didn’t expect this level of enjoyment from reading a book about a serious law material. This book is entertaining almost like a thrilling mini series to me due to the author’s great storytelling. Vivid arguments in various courtrooms over decades, sad stories of victims, some hilarious cases (especially Smith), unjust and unfair cases, interesting judges, … I just enjoyed reading them over cover to cover. It is definitely educational. I don't have any legal background and I hardly knew Section 230. After the joyful reading, I could learn history, importance and main issues of Section 230. I believe it is a must-read to many people including software engineers like me. I couldn’t be comfortable when the author compared the amount of benefit of Section 230, which has promoted proliferation of US Internet business, to the amount of suffering of women, children, and unfairly defamed people. However, I believe the author, on purpose, provoked this discussion. Including his own sincere opinion, he introduced various discussions deeply in later chapters, which helped me to think a lot.

Interesting and clear
Format: Kindle
The book reviews the history of the law that protects interactive websites from prosecution due to defamation. The discussion is interesting and straightforward, but there are too many unimportant details in some places.

The most well researched book about Section 230 and free speech on the Internet
Format: Hardcover
Many are calling for regulation of the tech industry. This book does an excellent job of outlining the “it’s not that simple” aspect of the debate. Some say big tech is doing too much to silence legitimate conversations and others say they are not doing enough to combat hate speech and false information. Regardless of which side you fall on it is important to know the history and this book is a well written account. Professor Kosseff does an excellent job of both presenting the history of Section 230, but also mixing in his well reasoned opinions about how we should proceed. Most importantly posing the question of if you don’t want big tech regulating the internet, you better think long and hard about who you do want, and what that will look like. This should be a mandatory read for any tech reporter who even utters the words “Section 230”. Thanks for the information.

The book that might save the internet
Format: Hardcover
The level of misunderstanding about Section 230 in media and government is astounding. All they have to do is read Kosseff's book to clear up their misunderstanding. The New York Times made a colossal mistake confusing Section 230 with the First Amendment. I hear media people all the time thinking they can't moderate comments because of Section 230 (the opposite is true). I see politicians going after Section 230 because they think it is the root of the net's problems (they are dead wrong). Section 230 is our best protection of free expression and human dignity on the net, for as Kosseff clearly explains, it is intended to enable the public conversation (by not making platforms -- including news organizations -- liable for what others do on their sites) and it is also intended to empower platforms and media companies to moderate what people do on their sites to their own standards. The law is short and clear and is vital to the future of the net and the public conversation on it. Kosseff puts forward an excellent history of the development of legislation and case law on free expression in books, movies, and other media. He talks with the creators of Section 230 and explains their goals and motives. He outlines the debate about the law. That debate is now reaching a critical phase in both media and Washington. Thus Kosseff's book is a document of urgent importance. I wish some rich person would come along to buy every member of Congress and every news organization a copy so they don't keep screwing this up.

Please use a larger font
Format: Hardcover
Over 60 and sometimes have a difficult time with too small print? My advise .. either read it on an ebook or skip this one. I read the first chapter despite the small font size that made it a little too difficult to read. While I found it informative and well worth reading I'm probably not going to read anymore and return it to the library. Mass market paperback books with small print I can understand. Hardback non-fiction books (which are generally read by an older crowd I suspect) make no sense to me. 5 stars for the content I read. 1 star (generously) for the font size.
