Leveraging patented Selectable Smart Impedance (SSI) technology and features from JBL’s Luxury Audio division where subwoofers have fill rooms far larger than a car, the family included 8",10" and 12" Arena subwoofer which takes a completely new approach to car audio which uses light and agile opposed 2/2.5-inch voice coils in magnetic gap to provide completely linear control of cone excursion all the way up to Xmax. Symmetrical Field Geometry™ design ensures linear cone travel and low distortion at virtually any output level. Surrounding the proprietary motor design are other high-tech materials, including a cast-aluminum frame, concave cone, a nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) one-piece surround, gold-plated speaker-terminal binding posts, progressive spider and vented pole piece. This subwoofer handles an amazing peak power by 1200/2100/2400 watts (Rated power on 400/700/800 watts RMS), and all of its parts work in harmony to cool the voice coils for maximum output.

The JBL Arena series is engineered to product uncompromising, mammoth base from an amplifier capable of delivering up to 1200/2100/2400 watts (Rated power on 400/700/800 watts RMS) of peak power.

Dual voice coil design
The Arena series’ powerful dual 2/2.5-inch voice coils are each suspended in a separate magnetic gap. At low power, both coils drive the cone, cancelling any nonlinearities. As power increases and one coil rides out of its gap, the other coil still applies force to the cone. 

Die-cast, vented aluminum frame
The Arena’s aluminum frame features significant venting and heatsink fins for added power handling, and rigid construction to keep critical voice coil components in perfect alignment. 

Composite paper full-edge subwoofer dust cap and cone
Composite paper’s combination of light weight and rigidity make it the ideal cone material to move a large amount of air without flex or distortion. 

NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) surround 
The Arena utilizes a single piece NBR surround seal between the front and back of the woofer. NBR is environmentally stable, meaning you get the same elite performance from the Arena during Summer and Winter. 

Progressive spider
The Arena’s progressive spider ensures restoring force to the cone, resulting a more musical experience from the subwoofer even in the highest excursion conditions.
