Benefits

Maintaining your pet's oral and dental health is crucial. Since they cannot communicate when they are in discomfort, it’s essential to regularly check their gums and teeth. Chewing on Zeal® Pet Treats can aid in the removal of plaque and tartar. Additionally, brushing your pet’s teeth on a regular basis is advisable!

Treats for training sessions: Treats are effective tools during training as they help keep your pet focused on you and the learning process, regardless of their age. For training purposes, treats should ideally be small and easy to swallow, requiring minimal chewing so you can reward behaviors promptly and frequently. Ideal training treats are relatively soft and about the size of a pea. Pets are less concerned with the size of the treat; it’s the quantity that captivates them. Larger treats are better suited for rewarding good behavior, as they require your pet to pause, chew, and take their time eating.

Maximizing the effectiveness of dog treats: The best way to utilize treats is to reinforce a calm and submissive demeanor. Avoid using treats to reward an excited or overstimulated state. Always allow your pet to smell the treat first, but hold it out of their reach and wait. Keep in mind that pets, particularly dogs, can detect scents from over 5 meters away, so there’s no need to place the treat directly under their nose. Initially, dogs may exhibit excitement and jump around. If this occurs, communicate disapproval through your demeanor and body language; your patience as a pet owner will lead to a well-mannered companion. They will learn that maintaining a calm behavior yields better results, sitting and waiting quietly while looking at you in anticipation. At the moment they are calm, reward them with the treat. Avoid using treats to reward an excited pet; instead, use them to encourage a calm and submissive mindset.

Feeding Guidelines

Don’t over-treat ~ While it can be tempting to give in when your furry friend begs for more, it's important to keep treats regulated. Treats should complement your pet's diet. Similar to humans, an excess of treats can lead to weight gain and may disrupt the balance of your pet's diet, which must be complete and balanced for optimal health. Ideally, treats should comprise no more than 10% of your pet’s daily calorie intake, so adjust regular meal portions accordingly to prevent weight gain, considering what they have consumed in treats during training sessions. This also applies to treats given as rewards for good behavior. If you neglect this, your pet may gradually gain weight and excess weight can be detrimental to their health.

Treat Wise ~ We always advise supervising your pet when giving them treats, especially when introducing a new one. Some dogs (unlike cats) may get overly enthusiastic about tasty snacks and might not chew properly, which could lead to choking hazards.

When to give treats to your pet ~ The best time to offer treats is between meals rather than immediately before or after a meal. Select a treat that your pet will relish. If you’re using treats as a training aid, they will be less effective if your pet has just had a full meal.

What type of treats are appropriate for your dog's or cat's breed, size, and age?
We recommend that you supervise your pet while they enjoy treats, especially when trying something new. Many dogs tend to gulp down treats without chewing, so it’s important to oversee pets of all sizes and ages until you are confident they can manage without risk of choking. Cats typically chew on treats without rushing to consume them. Smaller dogs may find larger bones challenging, while larger dogs might attempt to swallow medium-sized harder treats without chewing; older pets with dental issues may require softer chews, so it’s crucial to consider your pet’s size and eating habits.

Storage: Keep in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. Ensure the product pouch is zip-locked for optimal freshness. For bulk purchases, store any unused product in an airtight container to maintain freshness and hygiene.

Great chew toy!
Size: Blue
Great chew toy that dogs love! The toy is hard but also soft for comfortable chewing. The plastic is lightweight and does not leave sticky residue. It is super easy to clean so won’t leave the toy smelling like stinky dog!

Toy is not as advertised. It is NOT for aggressive chewers. It is NOT indestructible. It is NOT for medium to large dogs. I knew the moment I opened it that it would be demolished by my 24 pound Miniature Blue Heeler. And here we are 5 minutes after giving it to him, picking up pieces of cotton off of the floor. This should be marketed as a kids stuffed animal. In no way shape or form is this a chew toy unless you have an aging toothless two pound Chihuahua. It would have taken longer for my dog to chew up the $10 dollar bill I gave for this. 💩

Great for aggressive chewers
Color: Grey
Tuff toy, my yorkie has been trying to tare squeaker out for about 3 days, he works on the fur part but so far it stands up to his chewing, I have gone thru 3 other toys this week so glad thi one works! It lasted 8 days. They need to make whole toy out of material and put fur on top of the tuff material. Once he found out wetting the fur softens it he pulled the seam apart.
