As a late spring blizzard brews, Brother Christopher, a cloistered monk at Blue Mountain Monastery in Vermont, rushes to tend to his Ida Red and Northern Spy apple trees in advance of the unseasonal snowstorm. When the storm lands a young Somali refugee named Sahro Abdi Muse at the monastery, Christopher is pulled back into the world as his life intersects with Sahro’s and that of an Afghan war veteran in surprising and revealing ways.
North traces the epic journey of Sahro from her home in Somalia to South America, along the migrant route through Central America and Mexico, to New York City, and finally, her dangerous attempt to continue north to safety in Canada. It also compellingly traces the inner journeys of Brother Christopher, questioning his future in a world where the monastery way of life is waning, and of veteran Teddy Fletcher, seeking a way to make peace with his past.
Written in Brad Kessler’s sharp, beautiful, and observant prose, and grounded in the author’s own corner of Vermont, where there is a Carthusian monastery, a vibrant community of Somali asylum seekers, and a hole left after a disproportionate number of Vermont soldiers were killed in Afghanistan, North gives voice to these invisible communities, delivering a story of human connection in a time of displacement.

My dog loves it.

I thought I was going to have to return this dog toy because my dog was afraid of the toy, especially the squeaker. But after a while, he finally did start playing with it and now he won’t let the other dogs touch his frog. It’s so bad that if they do touch it, he rips it out or their mouth, jumps up into a chair, and lays on top of it so they can’t get it. He still doesn’t like the squeaker if it’s down in front of him, but if I’m in another room, the squeaker makes him come running. He loves the squirrel I got him too. But the material of the frog seems really durable.
The part I like the most of that it’s like a puppet and you can stick your hand in it or an empty bottle of water and then Velcro it shut. If your dog doesn’t like the squeaker, there is a pouch in the mouth of the frog that you can access through this velcroed area and cut it out.
Definitely a must have if you have a tough chewer.

Don't waste your money!

Do NOT buy unless you like throwing away your money! This Ethical Pets 54093 Skinneeez Frog seemed like a great dog toy, but my Malti Poo destroyed it within TEN minutes! He actually ate the material and half of the squeaker before I found the other half. Guess we’ll be seeing that outside in a few days! This toy is listed as “Durable Dog Toy”, but it is NOT. I’ve got dog toys from the dollar store that lasted for months! We will not be buying nor recommending this product again. Don’t waste your money!

Perfect size for pittie pups

This was a pretty good toy. I have three pitbulls. The puppy in my video is 65lbs for reference to the toy. I thought that since it was fluffless she wouldn't try to eat the thing but after a couple of days of tugging it with her brothers the toy's paw came off and I was not fast enough to prevent her from swallowing it. She got rid of it with little GI stress. I will say that even though she's not squeaking it in the video, it has a pretty loud squeak. Overall we had it for four days before 260lbs of pooches were able to get the squeaker out. If you have pits then you know this is 5-star worthy sturdiness.

An Instant Hit and Everyone's New Favorite

An instant favorite! It took quite a while for my dog to break the squeaker, too. I love that it uses a water bottle for the crinkle sound, and I'm kind of glad the squeaker finally bit the dust. That works out well for us. It's tough enough that it's not ripped yet. Our dog plays with this toy every day.
No fluff to pull out was definitely a plus for me. It's a great toy for the price, and I think small and larger dogs would also enjoy it. Johan is 7 months old, weighs about 40 pounds, and always chooses a favorite toy. This one replaced a worn out toy frog that was smaller, but still treasured. I was so glad that he loves this one just as much.
It's a little bit longer than a regular-sized water bottle and has dangly legs. I think you could also put plastic that crinkles inside it, and they would love that too. It has a velcro closure to keep whatever you put in there inside, and he hasn't figured out how to open it so far.
Update: We just bought a second one of these because he enjoyed the first one to its conclusion. It lasted longer than most toys (about 4 months with HARD use by a giant puppy), and it is his most favorite soft toy. The original didn't rip or tear, but the velcro got worn out when he figured out how to open it. I probably could have fixed it easily, but since Johan is the goodest boy, I got him a new one.

Best Toy Ever! 🐾

Hey, it’s me, your dog! 🐶 This Frog toy is AMAZING! No stuffing to pull out (finally), so I can chew and squeak it all I want without making a mess. The squeaker is SO satisfying, I carry it everywhere. It’s the perfect size for playing tug-of-war and fetch with my human. I’ve had it for a while now, and it’s still holding up strong—no rips or tears yet! If you love squeaky toys and want something that lasts, this frog is paws-itively the best! 🐸
