Domaine Jean-René Germanier is located in the hamlet of Balavaud in Vétroz in the canton of Valais and covers 60 hectares in AOC Valais. The 40-year-old vines on average benefit from state-of-the-art viticulture that respects the environment. Gilles Besse, the associate oenologist believes that everything happens first in the vineyard. For this reason, he works with the most total respect for his land by sublimating the most beautiful indigenous grape varieties of the region (Fendant, Petite Arvine, Humagne, Cornalin, Syrah and many others...) thus expressing the ultimate quintessence. of this very particular micro-climate: Almost southern sunshine, cool temperatures and protected from icy winds thanks to the imposing alpine massifs. To achieve constant improvement, Jean-René and Gilles have also chosen to reduce the yields of their vines in order to obtain more concentrated wines. Gilles Besse is a curious man who is always working to improve and test new blends. Finally, we will end with a quote from Jean-René Germanier which perfectly sums up the philosophy of the estate: "a winemaker must distinguish himself not by a prestige cuvée produced in confidential quantities but by irreproachable quality across the entire range".

One of the oldest grape varieties planted in the canton of Valais, Cornalin gives birth to one of the best wines of the country. It has a dense colour with purple tinges. The typical nose evokes cooked fruit, blackberry and blackcurrant. Starting off fresh and supple, it introduces a sweet palate, well supported by fine acidity and firm tannins that sustain a long finish of wild black fruits. One of the most harmonious bottles which can be appreciated both in its youth and after several years of ageing.

The grapes used all come from a single vineyard where every effort is made to ensure perfection at every stage. These select Cornalin grapes are fermented open in 400 litre barrels made of new oak. The resulting wine is then aged, again in 400 litre new oak barrels, for 2 years.

An exceptionally impressive expression of Cornalin. A brilliant purple colour and complex nose which sports red berries, spiciness and a touch of incense.
