The Exo Terra Stone Desert replicates the natural soil found in dry regions, such as deserts or savannahs. Desert soils typically consist of a blend of sand, decomposed granite, and clay, leading to unique and sometimes vibrant rock formations. With Exo Terra’s Stone Desert, you can design your own desert or savannah environment, featuring cool, humid burrows as well as warmer elevated basking spots. The cool, humid burrows provide your reptiles with essential moisture through their skin while they rest or hide, whereas the warmer basking areas support thermoregulation by offering crucial temperature variations.

Gently dampen the Stone Desert substrate to mold realistic hills, burrows, and basking platforms for your pets. Once it dries, the Stone Desert will maintain its shape while still encouraging your reptiles to engage in their natural digging and burrowing behaviors. You can either cover the entire floor with landscaped Stone Desert or create specific landscaped sections, filling the rest of the terrarium floor with Exo Terra Stone Desert or Exo Terra Desert Sand.
