The EverFocus EMV401 represents the latest in hybrid digital video recorder technology, engineered for demanding mobile surveillance. Built on advanced H.264 compression, this four-channel hybrid mobile DVR delivers superior image quality with efficient bandwidth use, making it ideal for fleets, transit vehicles, and on-the-go security deployments. With the capacity to record across a combination of analog and IP cameras, the EMV401 provides flexible integration for legacy systems and future IP upgrades, all housed in a rugged, vehicle-ready chassis designed to withstand the rigors of mobile operation. This compact device enables reliable local storage on a 500 GB hard drive, rapid access to footage, and seamless remote viewing—empowering security teams to monitor events in real time and review critical moments whenever needed.

  • Flexible 4-channel hybrid recording - The EMV401 is engineered to support a versatile mix of cameras on four channels, allowing you to combine analog and IP inputs in a single, synchronized recording stream. This flexibility is perfect for fleets upgrading from traditional analog systems to IP gradually, enabling cost-effective modernization without ripping out existing infrastructure. Whether you’re outfitting buses, taxis, delivery vehicles, or mobile command centers, you can tailor camera placements and configurations to maximize coverage, capture crucial incidents from multiple angles, and maintain a cohesive security overview across your mobile assets.
  • Efficient H.264 compression for high image quality - Leveraging the latest H.264 encoding, the EMV401 delivers crisp, detailed video while dramatically reducing bandwidth requirements and storage utilization. This means smoother live viewing over network connections with limited bandwidth and longer onboard retention on the 500 GB HDD. Even in challenging lighting conditions or fast-moving scenes, the encoder preserves essential details such as license plates, faces, and event signatures, ensuring reliable playback for investigations and evidence gathering.
  • Reliable onboard storage and rapid data access - Equipped with a 500 GB hard disk drive, the EMV401 provides substantial onboard storage for continuous recording, event-triggered captures, and quick retrieval of key clips. This storage capability is particularly valuable when connectivity is intermittent or centralized servers are temporarily unavailable. With on-device storage, security teams can perform rapid searches, export clips, and share footage with authorities without delays, keeping investigations on track and ensuring critical data remains accessible even when network access is restricted.
  • Seamless network transmission and remote monitoring - Designed for efficient network transmission, the EMV401 enables secure remote access to live feeds and recorded video from any compatible device. Fleet managers can monitor multiple vehicles in real time, receive alerts, and perform quick incident reviews without deploying on-site personnel. This capability minimizes response times, enhances situational awareness, and supports proactive security management across dispersed mobile assets, all while maintaining a straightforward user experience through standard web interfaces or mobile apps.
  • Rugged, vehicle-ready design for mobile environments - Built to endure the demands of mobile operation, the EMV401 features a compact, robust chassis suited for dashboard or under-seat installations. Its durable construction and streamlined installation workflow reduce downtime and simplify maintenance. The device’s hybrid capability ensures compatibility with a wide range of camera systems, enabling seamless deployment across existing fleets and scalable upgrades as security needs evolve, all while delivering dependable performance on the move.

Excellent Book
Format: Hardcover
Stanford University History Professor Gienapp has done an outstanding job of researching and writing this historical analysis of the interpretation of the American Constitution by America's first Congress. Professor Gienapp analyzes data primarily from Congress's problems interpreting the removable of executive officers, chartering a national bank and approval of the 1794 Treaty with Great Britain negotiated by Chief Justice John Jay, the "Jay Treaty." Gienapp shows in clear writing how Congress used records of the debates at the Constitutional Convention and State Ratification Conventions to resolve these constitutional issues. I highly recommend this book to anyone concerned with the interpretation of the American Constitution.

An analysis of how we came to think about the Constitution the way we do
Format: Kindle
It provides a detailed analysis of the arguments used to talk about the Constitution in the ten years after it was ratified. These arguments shifted from treating it as a preliminary draft to be perfected through filling in the details of the operation of the government through experience, to a sacred document that had to be interpreted to determine its "true" meaning.

I Really Wanted to Like This, But...
Format: Audiobook
My 2 star review is entirely due to the audio performance. While the premise and scholarly research in this book is fascinating, the narration is anything but. The narrator speaks, and at times even PERFORMS, every "quote" and "unquote" no matter where they are in the text. In a long (20 hours) book relying heavily on quotations, this narrative choice dramatically detracts from the listener's ability to absorb the material. One wonders why he doesn't say, "period," after every sentence! In addition, he sounds like he's spraying a lot of spit at the mike while speaking. Yes, euw. I listen to 3-8 audiobooks a week, and have done so since the early 1990s, so this isn't my first, or even my first scholarly, audiobook. The better narrators designate quoted text with a shift in vocal tone or slight pause. If you are considering this book, I hope you choose the print version.

Good to excellent content - terrible publishing policy
Format: Hardcover
Lewis (Not "Flewis") wrote a decent text a number of years ago. It was then expanded to a companion volume (Analytical Sedimentology) with another author. The two nicely complement each other but the mind boggles at a price of almost $100 per each. The publisher has clearly made little effort to control the cost. Redundancy between the two volumes is excessive, hard cover rather than soft is used and, indeed, both could easily have been combined in one less pricey volume. A valuable resource to students and professionals has therefore been compromised by publisher, author or both due to ignorance, greed or stupidity. A terrible shame!
