Bumble is a versatile pattern that can be worked up in 200g as a half hap/triangular shawl, or 400g as a more traditional full hap shape that can be work doubled over for extra cosiness.

With subtle honeycomb shapes, it’s a nod to the beauty of bee architecture.

Notions: 2 stitch marker, tapestry needle, blocking equipment

If you make this shawl, it would be great to see it on Instagram - #BumbleHap #FayDHDesigns

Construction:  Worked from the bottom-point up, with increases every row over a six-row sequence. The body of the triangular half hap finishes when up to 95%/ 190g of yarn has been used up.

The full hap is worked in the same way, swapping to decreases when up to 190g has been used and 210g remains unused. Decreases are also worked over a six-row sequence. The hap body is finished when the stitch count is back down to 9 stitches.

A simple border is added using double crochet and double slip stitches.

Dimensions:

Half Hap (triangular) - maximum width of 151cm/ 59.5" and maximum depth of 79.5cm/ 31.5"

Hap (rhombus shaped) - maximum width of 151cm/ 59.5" and maximum depth of 159cm/ 62.25"

Stitches used (UK terminology): Herringbone treble, Starting trebles, crossed stitches, starting treble decrease, treble decrease, double crochet, double slip stitch.

Pattern Support: Supporting images, charts and written pattern.  There is also a pattern Road Map so you can check off each row, check stitch counts and number of hexagon motifs within a repeat.

The pattern also has an electronic link and QR code (for hardcopy versions) taking you to a specific Pattern Page for the Bumble Hap with links out to more in-depth photo and video tutorials for specific stitches.

Yarn substitutes: Something with the same or very similar meterage.  It can be a different blend but be aware that meterage requirements will change if you substitute yarns.

Blocking: This is a project that definitely benefits from blocking to open up the honeycomb motifs and create a lacey fabric.

Pattern Pricing

I now operate a ‘pay what you can’ scale for my electronic/downloadable single patterns.  I usually charge £5 for these patterns and to encourage access for all crafters, these are now available on a scale of £3 - £7 and you chose what you can afford within that scale.

Please note that this doesn’t apply to my hard copy patterns, which remain priced at £5 and come with an automatic digital download.

Pattern format

Bumble is a twelve-page document.  If you are purchasing a printed copy, it is A4 sized with large, clear text.

Weights given are approximated to provide the best estimate for postage and packaging costs only.

Product materials, sourcing and PoM Rating

This product was originated and printed by me at Fay Dashper-Hughes Designs.  The pattern is printed on paper that is manufactured using wind power,100% recycled post-consumer fibre and carbon neutral.

Postage and Packaging

You can read all about P&P here.

The P&P costs applied are very transparent.  No additional costs are added on, you simply pay for the cost of packaging and the cost of postage.  I don't offer free P&P because what that usually means is that the cost of P&P has been added to the cost of goods.  I think it is better to assume that my customers aren't daft and would rather have transparent P&P costs than the pretence of 'Free P&P' with inflated prices on the items that they are buying.

Melted
These biscuits seem to melt easily. I have purchased from 2 different sellers and have nothing but problems with them stuck together and crumbling on arrival.

All melted and ruined.
First - let me tell you how much I love these biscuits. I really REALLY love them. Living in Texas as an ex-pat, they give me a nice little treat from home when I needed it. Second - Shipping SUCKS. While speedy, the box is not marked for keeping out of the heat, or "needs refrigeration" etc... SOMETHING. They were left in my mail box. ALL day. In 90+ degree Texas heat. So yeah, the chocolate melted them all together, even though I immediately put them in the fridge. They were a mess to break apart, and instead I ended up with 2-3 layer sandwich-like biscuit chunks. I'm so disappointed- how do I dip them in my Tetley cuppa, when they come like this?? I won't buy these from this seller in the future.

Great product and service after disappointment
Flavor Name: Traditional, Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Ive tried a few different brands of biltong and made my own. I have to say that this wasn't my favorite. Believe me, i wanted to like it. The taste was sour and most of the bag was pulverized shreds. :( I did find that letting a bit airdry in a bowl made it a little more palatable, but honestly it'sjust sitting in my fridge still, where normally I'd have eaten the whole bag in a day or so. I will say that there was a decent amount for the price. The texture and cut were good on the whole pieces. Also, some of the bites left a weird coating and nasty taste on my tongue, like baking soda or something, but definitely an off taste. I had my own beef jerky store for several years, so I'm a connoisseur, but no snob. -----update 8/13/2019------- I contacted customer service via the email on the bag and got a response. They sent me a new bag and here is the email I sent them back. Very happy now. ....The biltong showed up last Thursday! I'm sorry i kept forgetting to email you. It is delicious. It's night and day difference between the bag I got through Amazon originally. This bag was pristine and the taste is spot on. Every piece is a perfect slice, no shreds or fluff. Dark, rich brown color, not hay colored like the old bag. I really think that the other bag got very hot or something and out the taste off. Thank you so much. Now I know that if I am in the mood for biltong, Ayoba-yo is a good choice. Thanks for the customer service as well.....

Ayoba-Yo Traditional Beef Biltong
Flavor Name: Traditional, Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I have been lucky to visit South Africa a few times in my life. What is not lucky is coming home to the United States and craving biltong. Biltong is a magical, sugar-free, barely processed jerky and once you try it, you will never want to eat American beef jerky again. Biltong made in South Africa cannot be imported to the States, which is probably the saddest thing ever. I have searched for the perfect recreation of what I have eaten while road tripping through the Karoo, and I haven't found anything that can match it. Until I got this Ayoba-Yo Biltong delivered to my door yesterday. My search is over. Ayoba-Yo is a match to the biltong in my memories. The meat is sliced thin and perfect for snacking. It is fresh, doesn't contain any gross preservatives, and the flavors are the perfect traditional blend. Try this biltong and make the switch, you won't be disappointed!

Biltong, any brand, is healthier for you than “beef jerky”.
Flavor Name: Traditional, Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Ayouba Biltong is soft and full of flavor without excess sugar, preservatives, and spices. Good quality: if you can get it on sale or with an Amazon subscription even better. Sometimes settling occurs and more small “shreds” of it than I’d like, but overall a great, good-tasting product. Per ounce? Hey no Biltong is “cheap”. This isn’t Jack’s Links, etc.
