The portrait of St. Mary Magdalene, titled "Illuminated by Grace, Portrait of the Madeleine," emerged from the artist's personal journey of faith formation. During his time in the RCIA program and entry into the Catholic Church, the artist sought to distinguish and give faces to the various women named Mary in the New Testament. This exploration led him to a profound discovery of the intimate connection the Diocese of Utah has with Mary Magdalene, resonating deeply with his own spiritual journey.
As the artist embarked on the task of depicting the moment Mary Magdalene was freed from the demons that possessed her, he delved into the significance of her possession by seven demons. This number symbolized a complete and total possession, representing the depth of her torment. Through Christ's intervention, Mary experienced an equally complete salvation, showcasing the transformative power of divine grace. Her story became a testament to the fact that no human effort can achieve salvation; it is only through Christ's grace that redemption is possible.

In the process of learning about Mary Magdalene, the artist realized that her story resonated with many individuals, especially those who had chosen her as their patron saint during their confirmations. This collective admiration and personal connection to St. Mary Magdalene further motivated the artist to capture her essence in this painting. He wanted to portray her not just as a biblical figure, but as a symbol of hope and redemption for all who seek solace and salvation in Christ.

"Illuminated by Grace, Portrait of the Madeleine" aims to capture the moment of Mary Magdalene's redemption, emphasizing the light and grace that transformed her life. The painting is a reflection of the artist's journey and the journeys of many others who find inspiration in her story. It is a reminder of the boundless grace available to us through Christ, and the profound impact that this grace can have on our lives.

In this neoclassical portrait, St. Mary Magdalene is adorned in gold clothes, symbolizing her former attachment to the material things of this world. Historically credited as a proficient manager of monetary means, her attire reflects this aspect of her life. Her expression is one of profound emotion, on the verge of tears as the redemptive power of God's love fills her soul. The artist captures a moment of divine transformation, with light emerging into the dark room, symbolizing the redemption and grace that are illuminating her heart.

Mary Magdalene is portrayed with particular beauty and youthfulness, consistent with traditional depictions. However, this piece diverges from the conventional portrayals by presenting her in modest attire, shifting the focus away from the often disputed sexual nature of her sins. Instead, the emphasis is on her spiritual renewal and the profound impact of Christ's grace on her life.

The light piercing through the darkness not only highlights her physical beauty but also represents the spiritual awakening she experiences. This imagery underscores the transformative power of divine love and redemption. Encircling her head, a halo symbolizes her complete redemption, a testament to the totality of her salvation through Christ.

The artist’s choice to depict her in modest clothing reinforces the focus on her inner transformation rather than her past, inviting viewers to reflect on the themes of forgiveness, grace, and renewal. The halo serves as a powerful reminder of the sanctifying grace that has wholly redeemed her, highlighting the ultimate victory of divine love over sin.

Oil on Canvas 24 x 36. Framed at in a handmade gold leaf frame. Painted 2024.

Thoughtful Easter devotional, though the writing style may not resonate with everyone
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
As Easter approaches, I was interested in spending some time with this devotional. One thing I appreciated right away is how Paul David Tripp connects passages from across the Bible to the deeper meaning of Easter. The devotional begins with references in the Old Testament and traces the thread of prophecy forward toward the ultimate sacrifice and resurrection. That connection between early scripture and the events of Easter is an important foundation of the Christian story, and the book highlights it well. What I liked: Carefully selected Bible passages that connect Old Testament prophecy with the Easter story A devotional structure that encourages reflection throughout the season An accessible way to revisit the narrative from prophecy to resurrection Where it didn’t fully connect for me: The author’s narrative style may be a matter of personal preference. His writing is often elegant and reflective, but at times it felt somewhat fragmented or incomplete to me. I personally tend to connect more with a slightly more straightforward, conversational style of devotional writing. That said, this doesn’t mean the book lacks value. Readers who appreciate a more poetic or contemplative tone may find it quite meaningful. Overall: Even though the writing style wasn’t a perfect fit for me, this is still a worthwhile Easter devotional. It provides a thoughtful way to reflect on the journey from prophecy to resurrection and would make a good companion for the Easter season.

Equally deep and approachable devotional
Format: Paperback
This really is an everyday devotional in that it is rich and engaging whether going through it for the Lenten season or any other time of the year. It focuses on the Gospel message from our sin and need for a Savior, through the Lord’s redemptive plan and faithful fulfillment through Jesus. Each daily entry is just two pages, but has a balance of depth and approachability that makes it feel full and spiritually satisfying. The author’s personal stories and way of framing the biblical passages is relatable, and I was immediately drawn into it. I especially like how the devotional begins with the Old Testament scriptures, revealing themes and prophetic pictures that I hadn’t seen before, and then gradually works into the New Testament, even through Revelation! If going through this during Lent, the topics build up the anticipation for Resurrection Sunday and are arranged very meaningfully. The reflection questions are also really good at bringing out deep reflections and a personal response to the biblical passage and thematic focus of the devotional. I’ve made it through most of the devotional at this point, and am thoroughly enjoying it. Highly recommend!

Love this!
Format: Paperback
I recently received this christian daily devotional book and here’s my quick thoughts on it: I think that the condition of the book is great and it doesn’t feel cheap or like it would rip very easily. I think this is a good quality paper and material. I admire this daily devotional book because it is something great to read as soon as you wake up, preparing your day under Christs’ armor. I actually have another daily devotional book which is a year long and it gives encouragement through scripture directly from the word of God. That book is great and it’s amazing reading as soon as I wake up every morning. This book is nothing short of how good that one is and I just love how this one is structured. Overall, I highly recommend this every day Christian devotional book to anyone looking for one and even as a gift for someone! I love this!

A Beautiful, Gospel-Filled Devotional for Every Season
Format: Paperback
I have truly been enjoying reading Everyday Gospel Easter Devotional and applying the teachings to my own life. This devotional has been so helpful in fueling my faith and deepening my understanding of the incredible gift that Jesus gave us all on the cross. What I really love is that this isn’t something you can only use during Easter. It can absolutely be read and treasured year-round. The lessons are rich, meaningful, and rooted deeply in Scripture. It begins with teachings from Genesis and ends with Revelation, so you really get to journey through the Bible from beginning to end. I’ve learned so much and gained fresh insight into God’s redemptive plan throughout Scripture. This devotional is perfect for babes in Christ as well as those who are mature in the faith. It presents biblical truth in a way that is easy to understand, yet still powerful and spiritually enriching. I would definitely recommend this devotional to anyone wanting to grow deeper in their faith and better understand the Gospel message. It’s a beautiful reminder of the hope we have in Christ.

Works great, easy to assemble.
Size: 2 Tier-9.5''Wx10.5''Dx9.5''H
I bought this to try and contain our cabinet clutter. It works really well. Was easy to assemble. I use it on the countertop instead of inside of the cabinets. Looks nice enough to sit out. Will buy 1 more in the coming days. The storage areas pull out, makes for easy access.
