High-speed Autofocus
Sony have incorporated an advanced inner-focus mechanism that is driven by the DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) system to deliver a fast, precise, and quiet autofocus operation. As well as AF lock-on for subject tracking at wide angles and constant F4 maximum aperture which makes it possible to achieve constant exposure - beneficial for smooth movies and for capturing stills. Manual mode is fast and responsive with almost unnoticeable lag.
Efficient Operation
For more intuitive and efficient operation of the Sony 12-24mm lens, Sony have featured a customisable focus hold button so the user can assign a variety of functions for fingertip control, and an AF/MF switch so the mode can be instantly switched dependant on the situation.
Superb Optical Configuration
The Sony 12-24mm lens is made up of 13 groups and 17 elements, including four aspherical elements, one Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element, and three ED glass elements. The elements are strategically placed to significantly reduce optical aberrations, such as chromatic aberration. The reduction of chromatic aberration contributes towards delivering images with improved sharpness and clarity across the frame.
Combatting Ghosting and Flare
The lenses feature Sony’s Nano AR Coating to minimise ghosting and flare when working with bright light sources, such as backlighting. Sharpness, high contrast and clarity is maintained across the frame in a variety of conditions.
Compact, Lightweight, and Portable
The clever optical design has significantly reduced the overall length of the lens barrel and the diameter of the front element size. Weighing just 565g, this lens is a highly portable lens that carries an impressive optical performance.
