The XMS-1208P from Luxul is a compact, front-facing rackmount switch designed for secure, reliable performance in security-focused deployments and small business networks. With 12 total ports and 8 PoE+ capable ports, this switch delivers powerful networking and convenient power delivery in a silent, fan-less package ideal for environments where noise matters. Built for straightforward installation and scalable management, the XMS-1208P blends enterprise-grade features like Layer 3 static routing, 802.1Q VLAN support with trunking, and QoS prioritization with the simplicity and reliability that small teams need to keep security cameras, wireless access points, VoIP phones, and other critical devices online without distraction.

  • 12 Ethernet ports with 8 PoE+ ports (IEEE 802.3af/at) to power IP cameras, wireless access points, and VoIP phones directly from the switch, reducing cable clutter and the need for separate power injectors.
  • Silent, fan-less operation that keeps your workspace peaceful while maintaining dependable performance, even in quiet offices, retail spaces, or server rooms where noise must be minimized.
  • 24 Gbps switching capacity to handle multiple devices and VLANs with smooth, low-latency data transfer—supporting small business networks and security architectures that demand steady throughput.
  • Layer 3 static routing combined with 802.1Q VLAN support and trunking enables clear network segmentation and scalable routing between VLANs, delivering enhanced security and easier traffic management for complex deployments.
  • Quality of Service (QoS) prioritization ensures critical traffic—such as surveillance video streams, voice, and real-time management traffic—gets priority bandwidth for reliable performance under load.

how to install XMS-1208P

Step 1 — Mounting the switch: Prepare a standard 19-inch rack and install the XMS-1208P using the included rack-mount hardware. Ensure proper grounding and stability to protect the unit and connected devices. Position the switch so that front-panel ports are easily accessible for cable management and ongoing maintenance.

Step 2 — Power connection: Connect the switch to a reliable power source using the appropriate power cable. Because this model emphasizes silent operation, ensure it has adequate clearance for heat dissipation and unobstructed ventilation around the chassis.

Step 3 — Cable layout and PoE planning: Plan your PoE needs by identifying which devices will be powered by the 8 PoE+ ports (such as cameras, APs, or IP phones). Route PoE cables neatly to avoid tangling and to simplify future maintenance. Reserve non-PoE devices for non-PoE ports to maximize efficiency and power budgeting.

Step 4 — Network uplinks and device connections: Connect uplink devices (e.g., your router or core switch) to one of the standard Ethernet ports labeled for data traffic. Attach your security cameras, wireless access points, and other PoE-powered devices to the PoE+ ports. If you plan to segment traffic using VLANs, prepare compatible network gear that supports 802.1Q tagging.

Step 5 — Accessing the management interface: From a computer on the same network, open the Luxul management portal as described in the user manual. Use the default management credentials provided by Luxul to log in, then immediately configure network settings, VLANs, and QoS rules according to your security and business needs.

Step 6 — Configuring VLANs and routing: Create VLANs for different device classes (e.g., cameras, IoT devices, staff devices) and set up trunk ports where appropriate. Enable Layer 3 static routing for inter-VLAN communication as required by your network design. Apply QoS policies to prioritize camera streams and voice traffic to maintain performance and reliability.

Step 7 — Saving and verifying configuration: Save your configuration in the management interface and perform a live test to verify connectivity, PoE power delivery to devices, and proper VLAN segmentation. Check PoE status to confirm power is flowing to connected devices and monitor link health indicators on the front panel to ensure ports are active.

Step 8 — Ongoing management and updates: Regularly check for firmware updates from Luxul and apply them through the management interface to maintain security, performance, and interoperability with other network components. Maintain a clean, labeled cabling scheme and document your network topology for future changes or troubleshooting.

All dog sizes can enjoy this ball!
Color: Orange
This is a terrific dog ball! Our Pittie can't tear it apart on day 2 which is unusual! Also, its big enough that he can't swallow it but not so huge that our mini Doodle can't enjoy it too! We have more than one of these to keep our pups busy!

Finally, a ball that made it!
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
I don’t know what is it with this ball, but it’s special. My dogs can absolutely tear up anything and this one seems like it can be chewed up but my dog loves it too much. He carries it all day, nibbles it and loves the squeaky sound of course. Finally found a winner!

Good size ball for my big boy
Color: Purple
My big boy loves this ball. He chews and chews and chews on it and it ain't made a dent in it. It's made a good quality rubber. It's got a squeaker in it. He hasn't managed to get it out which is not normal because normally he can get a squeaky out within 10 minutes. He goes through toys like I don't know what so it's being being a good. Really good ball. We've had it for about 2-3 months now and he hasn't been able to break into it and get squeaky out or even make a dent into it. That would tear up the the rubber

Sturdy ball, holding up well.
Color: Purple
I have a ball obsessed Shih Tzu. This has become his security blanket. He literally takes it everywhere and even sleeps with it next to him. Dexter loves any ball. All shapes and sizes. He will play fetch all day long if you let him. He doesn't know when to quit. It can be 100 degrees out with 80% humidity and he'll fetch all day long. This is a larger ball, I think just over 3 inches. It is entirely too big for a Shih Tzu, but it is perfect for Dexter. He came to us with a ball similar to this that he has since lost. He carries it in his mouth by placing his incisors in the indentations and lets it hang out the side of his mouth. Quite comical actually, but it works for him. We have bought him balls more for his size, but they're too small and he gets them lost under cabinets, furniture or any nook and cranny the ball will fit. And being obsessive, he will bark and carry on because he can't get to the ball until you come and rescue it. Difficult on our old knees. So he ends up getting the smaller balls taken away from him. The other night he was laying and chewing on this ball. It sounded like he was shredding this ball to pieces. I was afraid he would choke or swallow the rubber pieces, so I took it away from him. There wasn't anything wrong with the ball. It looked brand new. No chew or bite marks that I could see. I was impressed. It does have a squeaker, but I can barely get it to squeak and I have strong hands. A larger dog with a stronger bite force could probably easily make it squeak. It claims to have a beef scent to the toy, and maybe that is why he likes the ball so much. But I sniffed it and couldn't smell anything, which is fine by me, it won't have an obnoxious smell to where I don't want it around me.
