The Datalogic Gryphon GD4590 Handheld Barcode Scanner is engineered to power everyday workflows with imaging precision, speed, and reliability. Built for general-purpose use in retail, warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing, this compact, ergonomic imager captures a broad range of codes—from classic 1D barcodes to dense, high-density 2D symbols—quickly and with high first-pass accuracy. Its modern silhouette and palm-friendly grip are designed for all-day use, while a robust decoding engine, clear feedback indicators, and flexible interface options help streamline operations, reduce handling time, and lower total cost of ownership. Whether you're scanning well-printed labels, damaged or poorly printed codes, or digital barcodes displayed on mobile devices, the Gryphon GD4590 delivers fast, dependable results with minimal operator effort.

  • Imaging technology for rapid, versatile decoding: The GD4590 uses an advanced 2D MPixel imager to read a wide array of barcodes, including 1D, 2D, stacked, and high-density codes. Its decoding engine is optimized for high-speed data capture in busy environments, reliably extracting data from damaged or poorly printed labels and delivering results in real time to your POS, ERP, or inventory system.
  • Omnidirectional, wide field of view for effortless scanning: The imager’s expansive field of view and omnidirectional reading capability reduce the need for precise aiming. Operators can scan from different angles, improving throughput at checkout counters, in stock rooms, and on loading docks while maintaining high accuracy and minimizing re-scans.
  • Ergonomic, rugged design built for real-world use: The Gryphon GD4590 features a palm-friendly form factor and smooth, comfortable grip that support long scanning sessions without fatigue. Its durable housing is designed to withstand daily wear and tear in retail, warehouse, and manufacturing environments, while remaining easy to clean and sanitize between shifts.
  • Clear feedback and dependable accuracy: Operators benefit from unmistakable confirmation through bright illumination and visual indicators, including Datalogic’s distinctive Green Spot feedback on many models. This intuitive feedback helps verify successful reads without diverting attention to a monitor, speeding up workflows and improving first-pass accuracy.
  • Flexible, multi-interface connectivity for diverse deployments: The GD4590 ships with versatile interface options to fit various systems and workflows, including USB (HID), RS-232, and Keyboard Wedge compatibility, with a true multi-interface footprint. This flexibility makes it an easy fit for POS terminals, warehouse management systems, and custom data capture applications, and it supports scanning at the point of sale, in inventory, or on the loading dock with minimal configuration.

How to install Gryphon GD4590

Getting the Gryphon GD4590 up and running is straightforward, whether you’re equipping a single workstation or rolling out multiple scanners across a warehouse. Follow these general steps to ensure a smooth installation and optimal performance:

  • Choose the right interface: Decide whether you will connect via USB (HID), RS-232, or Keyboard Wedge based on your host system and application requirements. If you are unsure, USB HID provides the simplest plug-and-play option for most modern computers and POS devices.
  • Connect the scanner to the host: Use the appropriate cable to connect the GD4590 to the host device. For USB, plug the connector into a free USB port; the device should be recognized automatically as a keyboard-like HID input, ready to stream barcode data to your application.
  • Install drivers or configuration tools (if needed): Many POS and data-entry systems will recognize the scanner immediately via USB HID. If your environment requires a driver or configuration utility, install it from your IT team or the vendor’s documentation, and then restart the host if prompted.
  • Configure data formatting: If you need specific prefixes, suffixes, or line endings, scan the dedicated configuration barcodes from the GD4590 user guide or documentation to tailor the device to your workflow. For Keyboard Wedge or RS-232 modes, ensure your host software is set to interpret the incoming data correctly.
  • Test with representative codes: Run a series of tests with well-printed, damaged, and high-density labels to verify decoding accuracy, scan speed, and the effectiveness of feedback indicators (LEDs, beep, Green Spot) in your environment.
  • Train users and implement best practices: Provide operators with quick tips on gripping the device, aiming for comfortable scanning distance, and recognizing scan feedback to minimize retries and maximize throughput.

Very Nice but don’t expect perfect condition
Format: Hardcover
Very nice book and thick with super nice pictures, it was a Christmas gift. My son collects books, but it was damaged. It was inside of a very nice box but not enough filling . But the edges are all messed up. Not really worth collecting. If you don’t care about the book being in very nice condition, this is a nice book.

Larger than I expected for the price and a hardcover. My son was super excited and spent most of Christmas morning looking through it and spitting out facts to us.

Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive Review
Format: Hardcover
This is a quick review of the book from darkhorses latest production the Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive. This book coves covers final fantasy 1-6 in various sections. The various sections for all the final fantasy games are listed as follows : 1. Art 2. Final Fantasy (Insert number here) Story 3. Characters 4. World 5. Monsters 6. Extra Content - goes into different sub catagories and varies from final fantasy to final fantasy. 7. Last section is - Final Fantasy (Insert number here) Memories. I have to say I really like this book a lot, but then again It's a dark horse bool publication of course it's going to be good. The pages are THICKKK. When I thought they were glued together or something by accident but nope, these pages are just really that thick. The hardcover is nice, although best to keep it clean since it's mostly all white. My favorite section is probably the character section. Not only does it list which character is conected to who in some way as well as the villians but also it shows Yoshitaka Amano complicated and beautiful artwork bellow each of the characters pixilated forms. It really gives you a perspective in how Amanos art work was translated into these sprites. Even though the section on art is nothing special seeing as I own "The Sky The Art Of Final Fantasy Slipcase Edition" which I recommend btw, It is still no less nice to see his work here too. I do think we get to see more of his monster desgins here though, but also the art covers for each variation of the game like from the Famicon to Android to PlayStation. It also shows the different logos that were in other platforms/handhelds or media devices. Really cool stuff here. The story section is OK, doesn't really go indepth about it though. Nice but overall just an OK section. The world section is pretty cool, showing the entire map of each game. The final fantasy 1 map is super basic, with some green here, dots of green for bushes, some yellow there, etc. Overall a neat little section. The monster section does the same thing with the characters section in the sense that it shows you Yoshitaka Amano fantasic drawings along side the pixel forms they take in the games. Incredibly fascinating if I do say so myself. The extra content section is were you see the technical side of what went to making into these games like the sprite data, the map, color list and so on and so forth. This section varies from final fantasy to final fantasy but it gets really technical about it, really cool. The final section the memories section is just that, memories of the game with random images and quotes of the game. Final Verdict - 10 out of 10 I did check in the back of the book for a final section called creators voices which are short interviews with the grand masters of the final fantasy series itself and how they feel about their work. Really nice. Overall this is a well done book by dark horse books, yet another fantastic release guys. I highly recommend buying this book regardless if your a collector or not. My recommendations? Pre-order Volume 2 of The Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive, it comes out in december but still. As well as Pre-Order any of the upcomimg dark horse books, they are all really good regardless if you played the games or not.
