Background
SH-SY5Y cells are subclones derived from the human neuroblastoma cell line SK-N-SH and represent a classic in vitro model in neuroscience research. They possess the following key characteristics: • Semi-adherent growth with tendency to aggregate, leading to insufficient lysis using conventional lysis buffers. • High expression of neuronal marker proteins including tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2), and α‑synuclein. • Sensitivity to neurotoxins, making them widely used in studies of Parkinson’s disease, neuronal differentiation, drug screening, and tumor mechanisms.
