Kansas- We found this beautiful old abandoned DC-3 in the Kansas while driving through during the day. I fell in love with the character this plane had, and knew that I wanted to come back to photograph it under the stars. We came back one night when all of the conditions were perfect for the Milky Way, but I hadn't realized that there was a street lamp about a 100 yards down the road that created some light pollution we weren't expecting. With some careful positioning we lined the light up behind the plane, so that it would block most of the glow. This small detail that we hadn't planned ended up being my favorite part of the image, because it lit the cockpit, almost bringing the plane itself back to life.
