How to install Netgear AV Line M4350-32F8V Ethernet Switch

Installing the M4350-32F8V is straightforward for AV/IT teams familiar with enterprise switches. Begin by planning a secure, well-ventilated rack space with adequate airflow and a stable power source. Ensure access to the management interface and that you have the latest firmware from Netgear’s portal to maximize performance and security.

1) Mount and power: Install the switch in a standard 19-inch rack, connect both redundant power supplies, and verify power-on self-test completes successfully. Position the unit to minimize physical interference with cables and to optimize cooling.

2) Network layout planning: Map edge devices (AV endpoints, encoders/decoders, control panels) to the 32 fixed ports. Designate uplink paths to the core network using the 8 high-speed fabric ports, ensuring redundancy where possible. Prepare VLANs and multicast groups for AV traffic as required by the deployment scenario.

3) Initial configuration: Access the management interface via the default IP address or a temporary management network. Apply the latest firmware, set a strong admin password, and enable secure management protocols. Configure basic network settings, including VLANs, QoS policies tuned for AV traffic, and multicast controls for streaming endpoints.

4) AV-specific tuning: Implement AV QoS profiles to prioritize critical streams (e.g., uncompressed video, synchronized room systems) over general data traffic. Enable IGMP/MLD snooping and appropriate multicast routing to ensure reliable group communications and minimized latency jitter for live feeds.

5) Validation and hardening: Connect representative AV devices to edge ports, then perform end-to-end testing of latency, jitter, and packet loss. Validate failover for power supplies, verify uplink stability on 25G/100G paths, and confirm that management access is secured. Periodically check firmware updates and monitor switch health through the AV/IT management suite.

Once configured, document the topology, port mappings, QoS rules, and multicast configurations to simplify future maintenance and expansion. The M4350-32F8V is designed to scale with your AV expansion plans, preserving performance as new endpoints and higher‑bandwidth streams are added to the network.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the Netgear M4350-32F8V best used for? It is built for AV over IP deployments that require reliable, low-latency media transport with enterprise-grade hardware. Typical use cases include broadcast facilities, large conference venues, education campuses, houses of worship, and corporate AV systems where AV/IT convergence is essential.
  • What makes the M4350 distinct from entry-level switches? The M4350 combines redundant power, larger fabric capacity with 25G/100G uplinks, and AV-certified features, offering higher availability, better scalability, and AV-optimized traffic handling compared with basic switches.
  • Does the M4350-32F8V support PoE? This model emphasizes AV/IT convergence and high-bandwidth transport. PoE support is not highlighted in its core specifications; refer to the official spec sheet for precise power delivery capabilities and PoE availability for edge devices.
  • How is AV traffic prioritized on this switch? The switch provides AV-oriented QoS and traffic engineering to prioritize critical media streams, ensure deterministic delivery, and reduce jitter for synchronized AV playback across endpoints.
  • What management options are available? Netgear’s AV/IT management framework supports centralized configuration, firmware updates, and monitoring. The switch can be managed on-site or integrated into broader network management workflows, with security features to protect access and configurations.
  • Can I scale this switch easily if my AV network grows? Yes. With 32 fixed ports and 8 uplink/fabric ports, you can expand by adding additional switches and distributing AV streams across the fabric, leveraging the 25G/100G uplinks to maintain performance as demands increase.

Super cute
Color: Bunny (Mauve), Size: Small
Super cute and fuzzy. Definitely perfect size for a puppy and not too loud. The fur is very soft and the nose is sown on not a hard piece that can be chewed on. Very good quality too.

Normally amazing
Color: Spiky Ball (Blue, Orange), Size: Medium
We have purchased these slightly spiky dog balls several times for our very strong jaw heavy chewer dogs and they’ve been amazing. They don’t break down they don’t get torn apart the squeakers don’t even pop out of them. So we ordered another package because we’ve lost a few outside to the lawnmower… oops and the package that got delivered today had only one ball that squeaks and the other does not. THIS IS A PROBLEM ! Unfortunately my female dog got to the new squeaking ball first and my male got to the non-squeaking ball and he was NOT happy. Basically once they claim a ball it’s theirs and the other dogs don’t go near the ball they claimed. So he’s following my female around and every time she squeaks the ball and I’m just waiting for him to attempt to take it from her causing damage to her. Normally… These are amazingly fun, tough, durable but also squeaking balls (that’s rare in a tough ball) that my dogs absolutely love. This time just got a bad batch I guess. When they squeak the dogs LOVE them. After several months of play the squeaker might break inside of the ball but the ball never comes apart or gets damaged. And we as the owners love that they don’t break down are not able to be ripped or torn even by our very strong jawed and big jaw muscle dogs. They are also great for in the house play because they’re small enough that they fit completely inside our dog‘s mouth but obviously not small enough to get swallowed so when we throw them in the house for fetch the dogs can jump up and catch them fully in their mouth so they don’t cause any damage to the walls when they hit the walls. They’re not super heavy but they’re incredibly durable. Definitely worth the price especially if you have heavy chewers or big jaw muscle dogs.

Best fun indestructible toy
Color: Crinkle Duck (Yellow), Size: Large
Truly indestructible no matter how much our oittie tries. She has owned it for three months works at destroying every day with no success. She carries it everywhere. Best purchase for chewer, more fun than the popular rubber heavy duty toy. Do not hesitate your pup will thank you for this fun distraction.

My dog loves this toy!
Color: Bunny (Gray), Size: Large, Color: Bunny (Gray), Size: Large
High quality, big toy, perfect for a medium to large size dog. After a few months of serious chewing I had to buy another one, but well worth the money! Rocky loves it.

Great toy but if your dog is an aggressive chewer, please think twice.
Color: Crinkle Chicken (Brown), Size: Large
I received this on May 23rd and on June 8th, after playing with this thing every day, our recently acquired 36 lb dog finally ripped it open and got out all the plastic and the squeaky part. Lily Belle will miss you, chicken. Lily loooooved this toy! She'd toss it in the air, chew on it, pull it with her teeth etc. but as much as she loved it, we won't replace it. It's just not durable enough for her. If your dog is an aggressive chewer, you might want to try a different toy. I hate that this lasted just a smidge over two weeks because Lily seemed to truly enjoy this toy. RIP, squeaky chicken!
