Teerchi is a silk saree woven in full body zari brocade defined by diagonal stripes that move across the fabric. The design rethinks the traditional placement of ornamentation in a brocade saree.

In most brocade sarees, the heaviest concentration of zari appears along the border and pallu. Teerchi removes this conventional weight at the edges. Instead, the zari is distributed across the body through diagonal brocade stripes, shifting the visual and physical fulcrum toward the centre of the drape.

This central balance allows the saree to sit more evenly on the body. By avoiding dense zari borders and a heavy pallu, the weight is distributed across the silk, making the saree easier to wear despite the richness of full zari brocade.

The diagonal arrangement also introduces movement. As the saree is pleated and draped, the angled stripes interact with the folds, allowing the metallic threads to catch light from different directions.

The result is a brocade saree that feels balanced, fluid and contemporary while retaining the richness of traditional zari weaving.

Craft
