This 1782 map of the Cape of Good Hope by Louis Stanislas de la Rochette, titled The Dutch Colony of the Cape of Good Hope, is a remarkably detailed British-produced map of the VOC settlement at a time of Anglo-Dutch rivalry during the Fourth Anglo-Dutch War (1780–1784). Published in London by William Faden, the King’s Geographer, it portrays the Cape Peninsula, Table Bay, False Bay, and the interior frontier, combining precise coastal hydrography with an unusually accurate depiction of inland topography, settlements, and indigenous territories. It identifies Dutch farms, outposts, and Khoikhoi regions (Cochoquas, Hessequas, Attaquas) and extends north to St Helena and Saldanha Bays, marking the expanding colonial boundary. The map’s fine British engraving reflects Enlightenment cartographic precision but served a distinctly strategic purpose—to inform British policymakers and naval planners of Dutch territorial extent and logistics at the Cape. Based on Dutch VOC surveys obtained through intelligence and trade channels, de la Rochette’s synthesis provided one of the most advanced geographic depictions of the colony before the British occupation. As both a scientific and political document, it signalled Britain’s growing imperial interest in the Cape—an interest that would culminate in the British seizure of the colony in 1795, little more than a decade after its publication.

This map is a reproduction of a historical map that is now in the public domain. It has been selected for its aesthetic appeal and historical interest and carefully restored and reproduced to preserve its original detail and character.  There may be marks and fold lines visible which add to the authenticity.  The map is printed on 230gsm heavyweight coated paper with a matte finish.  Most old maps were printed on uncoated rag or wood pulp papers and therefore a matte finish best represents the original map.

As expected
Color: Gray/Gray/Digital
Just an old school digital timex. Tried and true. Has both 12hr and 24hr function on the time setting. Has a standard stop watch and timer. The battery is great, just as it always is on a timex. Good water resistance and very easy to use. Overall very good watch for the price!

Can’t read numbers

Numbers are too small to tread on a 44mm watch

I absolutely love these watches! They are built like a tank. They can take a lot of abuse and still keep great time. I originally was going to buy just one to replace my old watch. Ended up buying several of them. Great gifts. The watches are beautiful and elegant, and I feel like a thief when I buy them because the price is so low I think its a typo. I have gotten several compliments on them when I wear them. I have busted up concrete and cleared heavy terrain ,cleaning areas out, wipe then off and they look Like I just took them out of the box. The only thing, and it's not a big deal to me.But the glow in the dark arms don't last long. They even give you the tool to adjust the wristband. Who does that🤣 The Quality of these watches are phenomenal BUY ONE! You won't be disappointed.

Very handsome well-made watch comfortable to wear.
Color: 5885 Siver Stainless Steel/Blue Dial
Very handsome watch. At first glance, it resembles a Rolex. In two days I’ve gotten multiple compliments. Several have asked if it was a Rolex. That’s hardly what I was going for, in fact I had to look up Rolex watches to see what was being referenced. The watch fits very comfortably.
