The Solidigm D5-P5336 is a high-capacity, read-optimized solid state drive built for demanding data-center workloads. As part of Solidigm’s third-generation QLC SSD family, this drive delivers an industry-leading blend of capacity, read performance, and value for read- and data-intensive tasks. Designed to accelerate metadata services, caching layers, streaming applications, big-data analytics, and other read-heavy environments, the D5-P5336 combines a generous 15.36 TB capacity with robust read throughput and sustained performance. Its PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe interface unlocks the kind of bandwidth required by contemporary dense servers, storage arrays, and cloud infrastructure while maintaining a cost-effective profile typical of QLC-based products. The drive is purpose-built for enterprise workloads that demand fast access to large datasets, quick boot and database warm-up, and efficient scaling in data-center deployments.

With the D5-P5336, enterprises gain a storage solution that prioritizes predictable read performance across long-tail workloads and large catalogs. The third-generation QLC architecture enables higher capacities per device while maintaining favorable read latency, making it a compelling option for cache-tiering, read-intensive databases, content delivery networks, and analytics pipelines where fast read access translates to lower latency and higher throughput. The E1.L internal form factor supports modern data-center servers and storage backplanes, enabling dense configuration in racks and optimized cabling. In short, this Solidigm drive is engineered to lower total cost of ownership by combining substantial capacity with proven read efficiency and reliability for enterprise-grade deployments.

  • Massive capacity for data-heavy workloads: At 15.36 TB, the D5-P5336 provides ample space for large catalogs, media libraries, metadata caches, and read-dominant datasets without frequent expansion or tiering.
  • Read-optimized performance: Designed to accelerate read-intensive tasks with high sequential and random read throughput, enabling faster data access, faster analytics, and quicker query results.
  • PCIe 4.0 NVMe interface: The PCIe Gen4 x4 interface delivers substantial bandwidth to support high-throughput read workloads, low latency, and efficient parallel I/O for multi-user environments.
  • E1.L internal form factor: A compact, scalable form factor suited for dense data-center servers, backplanes, and storage arrays, enabling flexible deployment in racks and blade environments.
  • Value-driven QLC technology with enterprise readiness: Third-generation QLC brings cost efficiency without sacrificing essential data-center reliability and performance for long-read workloads and cache use-cases.

How to install SOLIDIGM D5-P5336 15.36 TB Internal SSD

Installing the Solidigm D5-P5336 is straightforward in compatible servers and storage systems. Follow these best-practice steps to ensure a smooth deployment and optimal performance:

  • Verify compatibility: Confirm that your server, backplane, or storage array supports PCIe NVMe drives in the E1.L form factor and that the system firmware (BIOS/UEFI) is up to date. Check vendor documentation for any firmware prerequisites or driver requirements.
  • Power down and prepare: Perform a safe power-down of the host system. Ground yourself to prevent static discharge and gather the necessary mounting hardware if the drive requires securing screws or a specific backplane.
  • Install the drive: Insert the D5-P5336 into the appropriate PCIe NVMe slot or hot-swap bay/backplane that accommodates the E1.L form factor. Ensure firm seating and proper alignment to avoid damage during operation.
  • Power up and recognize: Boot the system and enter the storage or OS utility (BIOS/UEFI, RAID controller, or software-defined storage manager) to verify the drive appears as a new NVMe device. If needed, update or apply controller firmware to enable optimal operation with QLC media.
  • Initialize and format: In your operating system or storage management software, initialize the drive, create one or more volumes, and format with the desired file system (for example, NTFS, ext4, XFS, or a Linux software RAID configuration). Consider implementing a storage pool or tiering strategy that leverages the drive’s read-optimized characteristics.
  • Configure performance and reliability options: If your environment supports it, enable features such as write buffering policies, over-provisioning, or NVMe namespace management to tailor performance and endurance to your workloads. Validate the drive’s health and monitor SMART attributes through your preferred monitoring tools.
  • Test thoroughly: Run representative read workloads to verify throughput, latency, and cache behavior. Validate drive performance under realistic data-center conditions and ensure compatibility with your application stack.

Everyday Spiritual Inspiration
Format: Kindle
Not only is this book providing me with sacred wisdom for my daily meditation practice, I find I turn to it like a trusted friend to help me find wisdom when I am at a loss by looking in the section "Using Inspirational Passages to Change Negative Thinking.". The careful way that the source authors and scriptures are referenced is a great asset. This is a book that I will probably wear out and have to buy again before all is said and done.

a book that needed to be written!
Format: Kindle
Force of Nature is a wonderful book that needed to be written. A true -life adventure story that conveys the physical and emotional journey of a woman in her 50s who goes on a hike few dare try. The writing is incredibly sensory—full of everything she sees, feels, tastes and smells out in the wild. It’s a story of frustration and achievement, of triumphing over internal anxiousness and very real dangers and climbs. Beautiful writing, full of hope, great for book clubs and as a gift for nature-lovers. Hit the trail with Force of Nature!

An epic adventure, page after page!
Format: Paperback
Many women dream of making this hike (I once did) but few lace up their boots and get on the trail. And even a tiny fraction of those who DO realize their goal, could capture the experience like Joan Griffin. I read several chapters a night and always looked forward to getting back on the trail with her from my rocking chair. The grandeur of the sights, the wonder of seeing the world well above 8,000 feet ~ for 27 days ~ reads like a personal diary. Every perspective, high and low, is captured: the practical issues of carrying on even with a twisted ankle on Day 1, then blisters, surviving sudden weather changes, confronting inner doubts, securing essential food and water, and losing the camera enrich the book in an authentic style. In between all this, the reader remembers that it all took place with 40 pound backpacks on their backs! It's a magical but real-life journey with the inevitable personality differences of the Three Women, as well as their uniquely personal reasons to hike. As the brave heroes arrive to the finish line, one is aware of the power of grace that accompanied them all along. Yes, this experience changed the hikers but it also changes the reader. Being aware of those who live curiously and courageously provides a kind of encouragement for us to do the same, even after age 50.

Inspirational Read
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Griffin, J. M. (2023). Force of nature: Three women tackle the John Muir Trail. Black Rose Writing. Joan Griffin loves exploring and lives in the Northern California foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Five legs, 27 days, 195.9 miles, this is a memoir of three 50+ women hiking the John Muir Trail located in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Each day receives its own chapter providing a vivid description of the trail, challenges, and beauty. Walking created an "unpredictable reality," that was "bigger in every conceivable way than [her] imagination could have conjured." As you read through the story, you are transported to the trail, so vivid her recollections and descriptions of their experiences. She wore a necklace with the words strength, courage, and spirit; a mantra that served her well along the journey. Griffin found: "I found my very soul had acclimated to the natural world, and I was completely in tune with the Earth and the sky and the water surrounding me." Such an inspiring memoir! This would be a good read for 50+ women who need a good dose of inspiration, those who like travel memoirs, and those interested in long-haul walking.
