Antique Renaissance Era Winged Cherub Pendant: This exquisite 16th-century pendant, featuring a 22ct gold winged cherub adorned in vibrant enamel, was once treasured by Viennese business people and fine art collectors - Carl Askonas and Rosa Fürth. Prominent figures in Viennese society, they escaped the Nazis in 1938–1939, forced to leave behind much of their collection and property. Rosa’s jewelry, however, survived their harrowing journey, secretly hand-carried out of Austria with pieces sewn into the hem of her skirt, as family lore recounts.

Originally converted to a stickpin in the mid-1800s with a 14k rose gold bar, this piece was later sewn onto velvet. Our jeweler has transformed it into a pendant by adding a hidden 14k gold bail. Verified as Renaissance-era via XRF testing, it shines today as a wearable piece of history, measuring 1.3 x 0.6 inches, with minor enamel wear.
