How to install StarTech.com 1 Port USB Wireless N Network Print Server with 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port - 802.11 b/g/n

Getting started with your StarTech print server is quick and intuitive. Follow these steps to enable shared printing across your network in minutes:

Step 1: Place the device near your USB printer and your wireless router or switch. Position it where it has a clear signal path if you plan to use wireless, and ensure there is adequate ventilation to prevent overheating.

Step 2: Connect the USB printer to the print server’s USB port. Then connect the print server to your network using the Ethernet port for a wired connection or configure the wireless link to your router or access point during setup.

Step 3: Plug in the power adapter and power on the print server. Wait a moment for the device to boot and initialize. Observe the status LEDs to confirm that power is on and that the wireless or Ethernet link is active.

Step 4: Configure the device using the web-based management interface. From any computer on the same network, open a web browser and enter the device’s default IP address (or use the auto‑discovery utility if provided). Follow the on-screen prompts to set the printer, assign a network name (SSID) if you’re using wireless, and choose a suitable IP configuration (DHCP or static).

Step 5: Install the printer on each computer that will use it. On Windows, open Settings > Printers & scanners > Add a printer or scanner and select the shared USB printer provided by the print server. On macOS, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and add the networked printer. Linux users can add the printer via the system printer manager, using the IPP/LPR/SMB protocol as appropriate for their distribution.

Step 6: Print a test page from multiple devices to verify that the printer is visible on the network and that jobs are properly queued and completed. If you encounter issues, re-check network settings, ensure the printer is enabled in the management interface, and confirm that the correct driver is installed on each client computer.

Step 7: Consider firmware updates and security hardening. Regularly check the StarTech management interface for firmware updates, apply security patches, and review access control settings to ensure only authorized devices can print. For growing networks, you may want to enable guest printing restrictions or user-based access policies to balance convenience with security.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What printers are compatible with this USB print server?

A: The StarTech.com 1 Port USB Wireless N Print Server is designed to work with most USB printers. Since it uses standard network printing protocols (IPP, LPR, SMB), it should be compatible with a wide range of common printers. If you encounter a driver-related issue, install the printer’s driver on each client computer and connect through the shared queue on the network.

Q: Can I use this device with a Windows, macOS, and Linux mix?

A: Yes. The print server supports cross‑platform printing, so Windows, macOS, and Linux machines can share the same USB printer without requiring platform-specific drivers on the server. Client computers will use their native print dialog to communicate with the shared printer over IPP/LPR/SMB as appropriate.

Q: Does the device require special software on my computer?

A: In most cases, no additional software is required beyond selecting the network printer in your operating system’s standard printer setup. Some users may benefit from StarTech's basic configuration tools or firmware updates, but everyday printing typically relies on standard OS printer drivers and network protocols.

Q: How do I secure printing on a shared network?

A: Security is managed through your wireless network security settings (WEP, WPA, WPA2) and printer queue permissions. Use strong Wi‑Fi passwords, enable WPA2 on your router, and configure access controls on the print server if available. Regular firmware updates can also help protect against newly discovered vulnerabilities.

Q: Can I connect multiple printers to the same StarTech print server?

A: This model includes a single USB printer port, so it can share only one USB printer at a time. If you need to share multiple printers, you would need multiple USB print servers or an alternative multi‑printer network setup.

Q: What should I do if the printer doesn’t show up on some devices?

A: Verify that the printer is correctly connected to the USB port and powered on, confirm the print server is connected to the network (wired or wireless), and ensure that the device’s IP address is reachable from the client computer. Re-scan for network printers in your OS, check the queue status in the print server interface, and confirm driver compatibility on the client devices.

Fluffy and Nice Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
… this would have made 5 stars but for 2 reasons. A.) there were quite a few typos; misspelled words, missing quotations, “the his” mistakes, and various signs that maybe a proofread would do good. B.) the writing was quite textbook. Late blooming omega is struggling with her new self, finds a absurdly wealthy pack of alphas, every thing is almost insta-love but she resists, then decides to love herself and let everyone be happy. Rian was my favourite (obviously the author’s favourite too because he got the most page time) but I wish we could see more of his CEO side? He went to work maybe ONCE the entire time. Gray was supposed to be the “growly one” but he turned out to be puppy dog. Lucas was a genius brainiac doctor - but also super alpha with an aggressive hindbrain with a breeding k*nk?? And then there was no actual “breeding”?? Spice 3/5 - normally omegaverse books are super high on messy smut but this was tamer. Romance 3/5 - insta-love that was then resisted because of personal hangup’s Plot 2/5 - weird paced head hopping, showing the same scene from different POV’s that made me feel like it was 2 steps backward, 1 step forward. Humour 4/5 - there were a dozen lines that genuinely made me chuckle out loud Would have been five stars but the lack of proofreading and the predictable plot made me unable to get up to ADORED IT level - four stars is still and official ENJOYED IT, y’all. This isn’t a bad rating. The “Club Heat” has intriguing possibilities so I’m going to give the second one a shot.

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.

Madison Deserved Better
Format: Kindle
Madison was a beta...except she wasn't any longer. She was a late presenting Omega. And she was struggling. She was tall and thin, not tiny and curvy. She was opinionated. She was everything an Omega was not. After suffering through her first heat, her friends took her to Ardor, a club where Omegas came to safely find Alphas. She's not expecting much but then she connects with a sexy beta. And when she meets his Alphas, they set her body on fire. Maybe, she's found her no-strings-attached heat pack. Maybe, she's found something more. I could not connect with the characters in this book, so their story never resonated with me. And there was no love story; there was sex. Grey made it clear from the beginning that he had a true love and it was his beta boy, Rian. He went so far as to reassure Rian “Say the word, I’ll never touch her again. Lucas can put the babies in her. I only need you, beta boy”. So, Madison was there for babies, no emotions needed. Nice. No, thank you. I want the Omega to be the center of their world, not an incubator. Lucas and Rian weren't any better. After her heat, they let her leave. Not one of them made her feel valued. No one gave her a reason to stay or even offered a cuddle. And the sex didn't even come across as mind-blowing. Madison deserved better.
