It happens at times that a stone cold classic from a bygone era gets rediscovered. But how often does that rediscovery happen when the band is still around? And how often does it lead to a new album? That’s the surprising circumstance behind the Staples Jr. Singers’ long-awaited second album, Searching (out June 14).
You likely know the Staples Jr. Singers—the family band from Aberdeen, Mississippi—from their first and only record, 1975’s When Do We Get Paid (Luaka Bop, 2022). They made that record themselves when they were only teenagers. Finally, in a moment they’ve been waiting for most of their lives, the family is back with their sophomore album. Recorded in 2023 in West Point, Mississippi, and Nashville, Tennessee, and produced by Ahmed Gallab, aka Sinkane, the first pressing comes with a booklet of photos by Adam Wissing and notes by Anton Spice.

Props to Jacques Lang, who spent every day of our recording session with a camera on his shoulder.
Thanks to Mrs. Linda Brown, R.C.’s wife, and Mrs. Jewel Brown, Edward’s wife, for absolutely everything. And thanks to R.C.’s daughter Ms. Sondra Brown, Troy’s eldest son Treyvon Brown, Troy’s younger son Kolton Brown, and R.C.’s grandson Damarion Potts for joining us during the session; to Pastor Elder Orlando C. Pannell of The Message Center, who graciously let us set up in his house of worship; to Annie’s husband Willie Joe Caldwell, Sr., for opening the door every morning and closing it every night; and to Christian Georgiadis of Bacana for sending the band to Europe and to Pierre Chêne for being there with them.
Additional thanks to everyone in West Point, Mississippi, and especially to the Tin Lizzie Café (best pork chops), Pantry 45 (best casserole), Soprano’s Cafe and Billiards pool hall (best jukebox) and Anthony's Market (best blackened catfish). And thanks to Copy Cow and Backstage Music in Starkville, and Buxton’s Music in Aberdeen, where the Staples Jr. Singers used to go as kids and where the son-in-law of Mr. Buxton himself, Lane, can now help get you what you need.
A most sincere and special heartfelt thanks goes to Mrs. Marie Lashaye Brown, Troy’s wife, for covering for Jaylin when he was late for his shift at McDonald’s because our sessions ran over. And thank you to Leslie Gill for helping us tell this story.

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY-it is CRAP!!!
Color: Blue Green Orange
What a Piece of Garbage! If I could I’d have given this ZERO STARS!!! My Dogs WON’T GET NEAR IT! Obviously it smells wrong or they sense that it is TRASH!! If I were a canine, I wouldn’t give it my consideration Either! It looks large online but when you receive it, it is a Small RAG! THIS Attempt at a SNUFFLE MAT IS INSULTING!!! DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY on this GARBAGE‼️During the time period I had to return it, I was in the Hospital after having a Heart Attack!!I am still trying to Recover & I CANNOT DO MUCH!! Otherwise I would have returned it!!! It’s sitting in a corner in my bedroom. I had to unwrap the CHEAP PLASTIC WRAP COVER so I could even tell WHATit was. As It was diagonally Rolled UP, I had to unwrap & look at it & show it to my Dogs-The DOGS WOULDN’t get near it & now I’m STUCK WITH THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE THAT I CANNOT GET MY MONEY BACK ON‼️Yes, I am upset ! This ugly Thing hasn’t even been TOUCHED by my 3 Dogs & now I’m STUCK WITH SOMETHING USELESS THAT MY DOGS WOULDN’t even get near & I CAN’T GET A REFUND FOR!!! THIS IS THE TYPE OF TRANSACTION THAT I FIND HIGHLY OFFENSIVE ABOUT AMAZON & the Fly By Night companies they represent!!!!!

Nice but…
Color: Blue Green Orange
Nice but not very sturdy and it comes rolled up so it’s difficult to get it to lay down for your dog.

Both my dogs LOVE find the treat game time!
Color: Orange Red Blue, Color: Orange Red Blue
Both my dogs have loved this for years. Both senior dogs - great fun activity for them and they really hunt for all the treats we hide! My little one usually wins and takes over the game board then uses it as a lounger after :-) It’s very interactive with different ways to hide treats and challenge the dogs.
We’ve had it awhile and it has stood up to many uses and washes. Very easy to store and simply roll out when it’s game time. Highly recommend!

Perfect for snuffle dogs
Color: Blue Green Orange
If your pup/dog snuffles EVERYTHING or has a demanding intellectual stimulation food regime they set themselves this is for you! I have to roll out the mat above the floor to situation treats, but once it hits the floor my puppy is preoccupied for hours. She has so much fun sniffing through every element to find her treats. While the mat is easy to use I recommend rolling it back up immediately once most treats have been found to avoid chewing on the actual mat pieces (this could present a durability issue as the fabric is chewable). I use different flavored and textured treats throughout the mat as well as her normal dog food to keep her interested. Definitely worth the money if you have a snufflopogus puppy like I do.

Great for treats
Size: Small
Great for chewers. Tough medium size toy, treat toy, busy entertainment for all dogs. Dry, moist or squeeze food can be placed in the end and sides. My dog loves.
