This map is an original creation by our design studio at Africa Map Art and is based on data from various up-to-date sources. Midmar Dam, located on the uMgeni River near Howick, was constructed in 1965 to provide water for municipal and industrial use in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The dam has a capacity of 235,400 cubic metres and has become a major recreational hub and is home to the world-famous Midmar Mile, an annual open-water swimming race. While its primary function remains water supply, the dam has played an important role in the region's tourism and sporting life, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
