The Black Box ServSwitch CX Remote Unit for PS/2 with Audio and Skew Compensation is designed to extend your ServSwitch CX Series KVM deployment with reliable, high-fidelity remote access. This compact device bridges a remote PS/2 console to a ServSwitch CX switch using a CATx cable, delivering seamless keyboard and mouse control, crystal-clear stereo audio, and precise signal timing to keep every keystroke and cursor movement in perfect sync. Built for data centers, control rooms, and lab environments, it combines robust performance with flexible deployment, helping administrators manage servers and network gear from virtually anywhere within the facility.

  • Crystal-clear PS/2 input and accurate cursor tracking: The remote unit preserves keyboard and mouse signals with skew compensation, ensuring reliable, lag-free control even over longer CATx runs. This makes it ideal for environments where precision is critical and timing is everything.
  • Integrated audio pass-through for local and remote workstations: Share stereo audio across the KVM link so administrators can hear system alerts, diagnostics, or multimedia content without needing separate audio wiring. This feature simplifies cabling and reduces clutter in busy data-center racks.
  • Flexible CATx connectivity for scalable installations: Use standard CATx cabling to connect the remote PS/2 console to the ServSwitch CX switch, enabling straightforward expansion and upgrades as your server footprint grows. The design supports clean, organized cabling in dense environments.
  • Designed for seamless ServSwitch CX Series integration: This remote unit is purpose-built to work in concert with Black Box CX switches, delivering cohesive multi-server control, improved reach, and straightforward management across your KVM topology.
  • Durable, compact form factor with easy deployment: The unit fits neatly in server room racks or on desks in front of equipment racks, offering plug-and-play setup and dependable performance in 24/7 operation scenarios while minimizing space usage.

How to install Black Box ServSwitch CX Remote Unit, PS/2 with Audio and Skew Compensation

  • Power off the ServSwitch CX system before installation to prevent any electrical issues during cabling.
  • Connect one end of a CATx cable to the remote unit and the other end to the corresponding port on the ServSwitch CX switch, ensuring a secure, locked connection if an optional locking cable is available.
  • At the remote console site, attach the PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse to the appropriate PS/2 ports on the remote unit. If you are using a dedicated audio setup, connect the stereo audio source to the remote unit’s audio input and connect speakers or headphones to the local audio output as required.
  • Position the remote unit in your chosen location—either mounted in a rack or placed on a workbench—and secure it to minimize movement and vibration. If rack-mounting, align with adjacent equipment for optimal airflow and ease of access.
  • Power up the system and use the ServSwitch CX interface to verify that the remote PS/2 console is detected. Confirm keyboard and mouse input as well as audio transmission from the remote console to the local workstation, and test switching between multiple servers to ensure consistent performance.

Bought a "Used like new" watch. Doesn't keep time
Color: Black/Black/Black/Fast-Wrap
I've had this for a few weeks. Since then, it's lost about 30 seconds. I'm not sure if it's this specific unit that has the issue or the mechanism itself. It's a shame because it's a killer looking watch.

Light, retro watch
Color: Brown/Brown/Natural
This is a light, comfortable and retro-stylish watch. A mixture of plastic, canvas, and faux-leather makes a good match for a college professor's tweed jacket with leather shoulders and elbow patches. It looks and feels cheap but it's actually a pretty good watch. Mine has a high contrast face making it easy to read. The hands have lume on them but it only glows for a few minutes. There is an indiglo feature when you press the winder so that's great. The day window is tiny and almost unreadable even with reading classes but other than that it is very functional. You can adjust the time and day independently (so you don't have to wind through 100+ hours to get the right day displayed). The winder setting to select between time and day adjust is very finicky. Fortunately you only need to adjust the day 5 times a year. The weakest part is the build quality. I'm not expecting Rolex, but the case corrodes really badly and the strap is short and the stitching failed so it fell off my wrist in about 6 months. I replaced the strap with a better one but the case corroded so badly I tossed it within a year. Other than looking cheap, poor build quality, and being thicker than I would like, I think this is a good watch.

A nice, comfortable watch.
Color: Black/ Green
A nice inexpensive everyday watch. It is accurate, a nice size for my wrists. You barely feel it as it is so light. it has a nice clear face Andy only gripe is that I wished it had slightly better loom. Other than that it is a great watch for the money and this is coming from someone with 30+ watches in my collection in all price ranges. It has earned its way into my regular watch rotation.
