Manufactured circa 1970s, this cream-finish Seiko double-sided passageway clock is a beautifully preserved piece of maritime history — and one of our most sought-after salvage finds.

Originally a slave clock, it was connected to the master clock in the captain’s cabin so that he could synchronise every timepiece on board as the vessel crossed into a new time zone. We have converted it to run on two reliable AA battery-powered silent quartz mechanisms. A small knob on each face unscrews to open the sides of the clock face and reveal the mechanism.

The cream colourway gives this clock a softer, more versatile look compared to the green variant — equally at home in a coastal living room, a study, or a nautical-themed space.

In 1881, Kintarō Hattori from Tokyo introduced one of the first quartz watches. From then, Seiko became known as a world-class manufacturer of timepieces — both watches and clocks — and was the official supplier of watches to Japanese soldiers during World War II.
