Ahhh the hippie era.  There was an ad in a magazine saying to pay $15 and they’d create a logo for you. So Jim sent in his $15 and a note saying “Phillips Surfboards” and nothing much else. A few weeks later this is what arrived. 

It was about that time, two days before Christmas in 67 that I had woken up in my van at Rincon and watched McTavish and Bigler paddle out and blow minds.  It all changed then.  

Jim has used this art over the years on his S deck models like The Soul Creation as well as vee bottoms, pigs, and other surf craft.  When used on boards the design lends itself to be used both horizontally and vertically equally well.  Now you can proudly display the same logo on a tee.
